Where was God in Aurora? It’s a fresh take on an age-old question: Why does God allow suffering, natural disasters or – if you believe in it – evil? http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/07/24/where-was-god-in-aurora-massacre/ CNN posted this question on one of their blogs covering religion. I already know this is going to be a controversal and heated topic here, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think. From believers to non-believers and everything else in between.
God is in your hearts and minds Some people don't accept God and they do evil things. God created people, so people who do evil things blame God. But God gave us individuality to make up our own minds in everything we do. Everyone is capable of evil. Most people just choose not to do it. It's just like a teacher who teaches students. God is the teacher, and we are the students. Students have a choice to learn or not to learn.
Stop defining the supernatural in HUMAN terms. The Creator ain't your cousin who lives across town. Life and death, joy and tragedy are all a part of the experience we call being alive in this reality.
You're telling the wrong guy that. I'm not the person who came up with the concept of God. People have already been doing that for thousands of years.
It's all in your head. The imagination is just too great, yet humans never give credit for their own piece of work.
No way.. He was in NJ playing skeeball. Didn't anyone watch Dogma? And god is a female. Alanis nailed it.
Very true. But sometimes I get the vibe when people ask questions like this, they aren't coming from a position of faith. It's non-believers mocking those from the faith community.
My belief system tells me that, God doesn't direct everything that happens in the world. He gave humans free will, which we can use for good or evil. But he also sent us guides and instructions on how to properly behave, and how best to treat each other. And he uses his divine judgment to decide who will be rewarded for their good deeds and who will be punished for their wicked deeds.
But why sould they? And "faith" is a very subjective word. I have faith in a power greater than myself. I've seen it work in my life again and again to get me to the places I needed to go...growth wise. I have no faith in a bearded white guy in majestic robes on a cloud somewhere who watches me have un married sex tho. Guess I'm going to hell for that.
Im saying that believers mock nonbelievers also so dont get mad when they mock people that believe in G-d or whatever they believe. dont start something if you cant take it. also I dont knock anyone that believe or dont...its their choice
