Jaisee, first you said it was fairy tales and fiction. Make up your fucking mind. You are incredibly rude and negating of other people's real life experiences. Just because a lady invites someone up to her apartment for a conversation that turns a little more "familiar" than she is expecting (or feels is appropriate), so she avoids further "familiar" contact until the person decides to leaves on his own, does not make the lady a prostitute in training.

On my behavior, that's a negative. I lived with my family until I was married, and 10 yrs later as a divorcee, I’ve never allowed an amorous stranger approaching me even know where I live, let alone invite him into my home.

But I do see your point.

    Did you see mine?

Re-read my comment -- I was not speaking to any implied ‘skankiness’ at all (you know better than that) I was speaking to your safety.

I do see that, but I guess after having lived around college kids so much as a thirty something, and going to and from bars, and living around the college campus, it was just no big thing, and so it is downtown in Louisville, which is near U of L, and he was so obviously a college kid, and a fellow artist, like me (he was a dancer, and he thought I might be a dancer too, while I was really a fine artist, so we were of the same group... I hung out with a lot of musicians and artists in college, and would invite them home sight unseen after hanging out in a bar all in the same night). We crashed with each other all of the time - it might seem crazy to you, but it was done. College students do it a lot. I have done it a lot. With younger people, not so much older people, unless they were buddies of mine from high school that I knew and trusted or friends of theirs that I knew by aquaintance.

I have stayed at people's places that I do not know very well. Only ONE time it burned me, and that's when I was surrounded by people that I knew and thought I would be most protected, and was not going to spend the night, so that was the exception (another story). Any time that I have been sober and invited someone into my home, things have been under control. I've had a chance to judge their persona, and they have been relatively passive. If someone starts showing signs of dominance, I pull back, and eventually they are forced to leave or I tell them to get out. I live in the middle of downtown, where absolutely everyone will hear me scream - the police are just two blocks away.

It's not made up, douche. It happened to me, yesterday. On the TARC. I made it home at about 9:20 something (with his company) but first I needed to walk to the store to get some stuff so he decided to walk with me because I have a stalker that likes to sit on the steps of the church to watch me get off the bus (or he waits for my Caribbean boyfriend to drive up with me in the truck and watches us walk in to my apt - I can see him standing up and watching us from about 100 yards away). So the Brazilian walked to the store with me and I got some vodka and cigarettes and some olive oil conditioner for my hair. And walked me home. No sign of the stalker yesterday.

But the stalker found me today and wouldn't leave me alone. I told him he wasn't my type. I told him the Caribbean man was much better for me and that if he so much as breathed in his direction I would put a restraining order on him and make sure that he never got out of his parole situation. He keeps calling me when I say I am tired and can't talk. I was walking way from him today and he said "I love you". WTF????? It's really scary.

Well perhaps your sense of safety is different than mine, particularly since you grew up in the US? and I didn't. I traveled around Europe and the US at 20, and when I look back now, while definitely a conscious traveler, I'm still amazed I made it out unscathed in terms of my safety and life.

However when I hit my 30's I knew better, and I assumed you'd know, too. Screaming in a city is no safety net, especially if he has a weapon or date drugs. You really can't be too trusting anymore in this day and age.

Well, I am not American, actually - I am Canadian, but I guess you could say that I did grow up in America, having moved here at age 11...I guess seeing a "kid" of age 22, I felt that I had the upper hand... and he wasn't all that big... maybe I am a bit naive, Bliss. Date rape drugs would beat me for sure. He seemed pretty confident that he could seduce me, but he had another thing coming - I am pretty experienced in the ways of young men. They aren't all that smooth - and I am not all that desperate for sex LOL... :D He wasn't doing me any favors, certainly haha...he was a cutie though...:)

Didn't know the dread was a woman basher. After all why shouldn't a woman be allowed to have her fun especially when she's a hot piece that every man that crosses her path can't help but be aroused. Its not bragging if it really happens right:rolleyes:

I bought a cup today for the San Soo and Pankration. I was tired of getting kicked in the groin (and that hurts on women too although clearly not as much). May instructor told me all his female students is asked to buy a cup. I tried it on, its frekking WEIRD! Will take me time to get used to it.

Then I went to the gym and did a heavy leg day. We have one squat rack. WHY is a dude in there doing curls??!!! I ask him if anyone asked to go after him or if could let me know when he is done so I can get in after him. He said he had 2 sets left and would tell me so I could swoop in.

He then leaves the bar on the bottom bar with 45 lb plates on and walks off.
No, I don't need help but I think racking your plates and putting bars back is sort of common courtesy. Ah, well - it helped me to get some blood going for the squats. LOL.
