yeah you learn to take longer routes and mix-up your schedule i grew up in the projects and my mom definitely told me how to be tactical at a young age...especially since I rolled by myself all the time. weirdest situation I was in was waiting at a bustop, and turning around to get some situational awareness going. this thug ass looking, grown ass man was in back of me and started beefing asking me what I was looking at. I stood my ground and eventually got on the bus as it arrived, but I knew shit definitely coulda went down. It was like 6 in the morning and I was on my way to school.
See in that situation though your primary thing was protecting self, since you had no dog in that fight, you were on your own as far as liabilities. I realize bullets kill, no doubt and the human instinct is to protect one's self. In that theater situation though dude had two young kids that couldn't defend themselves. That's why I feel so strongly about what he did.
I hear you but after experiencing the fear of having someone let off in my general direction I can understand instincts taking over. I feel bad for dude he'll never be able to live it down
I tried to rep you but it won't let me. I take my job as a protector of my daughter very seriously. That's what you do as a parent, you protect your children because they can't protect themselves. I don't care if this guy was separated from his family (since I've read he was sitting elsewhere and I also read he "dropped" his 4 month old and ran for the hills) or he wasn't, you do everything in your power to make sure, if nothing else, your children are safe. As far as I'm concerned, this man didn't do enough to try to protect his children.
LOL, pretty much bro. We all have some story like that if you grow up in some ghetto spots. Some shit will find you along the way, its inevitable out and about. You eventually learn places to avoid on your routes because the vibe wasn't too cool and peaceful on a particular block. If one thing it taught me is to never be naive. Nothing like going to sleep at night and hearing gunshots at midnight.
i definitely take mental snapshots of environments and keep my head on a swivel people think im nervous or not used to being in public..but fuck em
I think that is the critical aspect right there. Can't leave your kids defenseless and helpless in such a situation of chaos and panic. Have to step up.
LOL, exactly, you never know when a day can go from good to bad real quick. All you have to do is come across one asshole for things to go downhill.
believe that i know where all the good hiding spots are in case someone decides today is the day a mothafucka wants to make the front page
I only get that way when followed (not following me..I think they are just walking behind me) by men I don't know. I'm just a poor widdle gwirl after all.. One thing my dad told me once tho, cuz I told him that you know, sometimes it's scary being single and living in wainaku.. He said "he...if you think a man is up to no good while following you...just open your mouth and start singing out loud to yourself. They will go away real quick if they think you're a head case." He was right. I love my dad.
Case in point. A couple of weeks ago my Mom was in a McDonalds in Queens, just relaxing having breakfast. She told me a man comes running in out of breath and chased by two others, they began trying to get in while he was holding the door to keep them from getting in. the McDonalds crew called the cops and locked themselves behind the counter while the customers were left with this dude in the main area. When the cops finally showed up dude had a huge knife on him. What if he had decided to take someone hostage. All that shit started from nothing except just chilling in a McDonalds.
See? And that's your mom...she doesn't need that shit in her life, you know. Wow, so LUCKY, really, soooo lucky nothing escalated. This story is a prime example, as was the Aurora one. You just can never know what's about to hit the fan.
So Alinoa, I have a question, who is “Fat” Phil Kahanamoku and why is he saying he is the only working citizen in Wainaku and that he pays the citizens out of pity? It all sounds so bizzare.
Exactly, when she told me I was shocked. Imagine sitting there quietly having breakfast and someone comes bursting in with a huge knife on them and blocking the doorway so his pursuers couldn't get to him, while you are trapped in the midst of it all with no exit.
Really right. And imagine too if his pursuers just decided to start firing through the window. That thought, and the hostage scenario you pondered, is what would make me kiss and hug my mom so tight, while gratefully thanking God for sparing what could have happened. :smt049
GQ sorry that your gun laws pound sand its sad that only crooks have weapons.. But thats what they depend on. And truth they dont care about you or anyone else!! But then you guys live in the land of whishfull thinking. I lived on the east coast for 5yrs my aunt was the secretary of health and human svcs with regan( and if others dont trust what im saying look her up her name is barb sabol) i spent a lot of time in nyc, and rahway nj and east orange. But what amazes me is yes nyc has a outstanding police force is that the libs think that they know whats best for you and yours!!! So little by little they took your rights, and conviced the people that it was is the best thing to do. The greatest trick that the devil ever pulled was to covince you he wasnt real. So now they still say that we can protect you better than you!!! So riddle me this batman you live there is that true? All the police are there for is clean up, and the people that bolted from mickey d"s was every man for himself!!! Then they want to get the 15 mins of fame, and say we wanted to help(pfffftttt) yeah right, but in the mean time families hav to id the bodies. Why do you think that when 9-11 happenec in dc, nyc and va? Besides the obvious, because the way the laws are written as such that you cant defend yourselves, And that breaks my heart!!!
Are you high? Even if we were as "free" as Texas we'd still have been hit. Gun laws had nothing to do with it
