I'm amazed he can with a straight face show up on National Television saying what he did in regards to his family. Have some shame would you guy.

I mean imagine if his girlfriend had done what he did instead of sticking with their kids.

 

Dude. Nothing wrong with protecting your family by any means necessary. You however were talking about having a gun in this particular situation which would have more than likely caused more harm than saving any lives. If you can't understand the difference between the two...........

 

Outset reading, I'm thinking "deal breaker he's history -- I'd never leave my dog let alone my baby..."

After watching it, he said he couldn't find his baby amidst the tear gas, pandemonium, screams, shots, he's thinking he's going to die, his kids will be oprhaned...To me, it's much like a parent in a fire where they want to go back in but they can't because of the fire.

This man has to live with his decision for his whole life - it's gonna eat at him.

Topple that with the PTSD of that event..I personally can not and will not judge any of the surviving victim's behavior in that chaotic nightmare, unless a person used another as shield. My heart goes out to all the victims of the beast.

i stand by my original assessment for non-parents. anyone who's looked at infantry training or just basic military training in general, knows that people have to be repeatedly exposed to combat conditions so that they become desensitized in a sense to chaos, along with developing that muscle memory to react properly. you don't just join the army, learn how to tie a boot, then get shipped off to Afghanistan for example. You go through a lot of bullshit (that's actually good for you in hindsight) before you set foot in your unit, but by the time you do you're a step ahead mentally than someone fresh off the streets.

the sound of gunfire is very unlike a house fire, in the sense that they come with loud bangs and the potential to end your life with one bullet. The sound alone can make someone panic, let alone seeing people get shot around you. Like I said before, if it was natural for the average joe to behave in a 'military' manner, a nice chunk of training and smokies could be could out of the defense budget. Even with months of training and exposure, some people still bug out.

As for the parental side of things...I dont know what to say. If there's gas, bullets and bodies hitting the floor all around you, you may be inclined to think your kids are already dead. I don't know the specifics tho. Were they sitting together or scattered throughout the theater? If they were sitting together, I think it would have been easier. Even with the instantaneous panic and adrenaline spike from the sound of gunfire, looking at someone you know helps your brain remember certain things. Sudden panic and stress like that can make you forget.

She is a hero too, no matter what she wasn't going to leave her babies.... She was hit with the same bullet he was shot with if I heard correctly.

 

I would like to believe that if I was in the same situation and we had our two children with us, one a newborn, that my man would do his utmost best to not only save the children but myself also. I would like to think he would be by our sides no matter what.

I won't judge this guy however because we don't know his past or what drove him to taking off on them, but I am so glade that someone else did help her...... And her hero says it all,,,,,,, it would't be fair to save himself and not help her and her children. Amen to him, what an Angel.
