She may have been put in this position, but I think she's really shooting herself in the foot if she moved from Google and into Yahoo. I like Yahoo service myself, but if she thinks she can turn the company around, there's a lot of work to be had. If she somehow pull it off...then maybe...just maybe she'll be the Steve Jobs/Shigeru Miyamoto of the software business.
Marissa has been with Google since the beginning. She is definitely qualified for the role, but it will be tough to turn Yahoo around and make it competitive against Google and Facebook.
I'm still a Yahoo user and I happen to like it a lot, though I just use it for the basics. Email and also do the Yahoo Answers section. But you are right. She's highly qualified, but as I said before...it'll be on hell of a turnaround if she manages to get the company out of the hole its in.
She's already married... But, you may never know. However, how many black silicon knights do you know who work in software engineering as managers, execs, and other high-profile areas and not just doing "grunt work"?
I hope she is successful in her new role. Nice to see a woman get the job. She also announced she is expecting so she is going to be one busy woman.
Yeah I heard that too. Expecting a boy in October. So she made the announcement the day she was hired. I know she's legally not obligated to disclose, I just wonder out of curiosity if she told them anyway. Not that it matters, she seems quite capable -- but the fact that she will be talking a hiatus in October...it's not the average job she'll be breaking from. More power to her.
with her type of role, she will be able to work it while preggers and afford to have nannies. she will be good
Interesting that they'd hire someone who is going to need medical leave as soon as they start the job. Might not look good for stocks.
i bet she smells like pledge furniture, lemon scented.. with a hint of dandelions. muah hahahahaha bbw at his finest
