Walking my daughter back home from her jumping lesson on her new Appaloosa. Her learning how to jump scares me to death, but she loves it!

This is a cute father/daughter picture!

My sister always wanted a pony growing up, and she wanted an Appaloosa. Loved the markings. (Personally, I think she just liked saying "Appaloosa." Lol!)

My awesome, fantastic Tofu passed on today. After almost a year with kidney failure he finally gave up. The passed 4 days was really rough and I finally decided to take him to go to sleep. He had not been walking for days and today, he could not lift his head and was jaundiced (liver eventually failed also).

He purred and made a few silent meows when I said goodbye. I am really, really sad. 15 years of pure awesomeness just ended.

So sorry FG. Keep the memories in your heart and feel blessed to have been a part of his life. :) I'm sure he felt blessed to be a part of yours (or at least to have a wonderful slave like you....you know what cats are like ;)).

This poem was sent to me when my beloved pup passed a few years ago, hopefully it will bring you some solace.

    IF I SHOULD GROW FRAIL

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain does keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done
For this - the last battle - can't be won.

You will be sad I understand
But don't let grief then stay your hand.
For on this day, more than the rest
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn't want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.

Take me to where my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.

Don't grieve that it must now be you
Who has to decide this thing to do.
We've been so close - we two- these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

FG I'm so sorry to hear about your beloved tofu :-( . My son always has to be the strong one when it comes to our pets passing away! He tells me that we have our memories of the pets we loved and we have pictures and if we don't have pictures , he draws one for me . :'( our children and our animal companions truly are the light of our lives

This is always a very cruel time, if you have to go this way to deliver your companion from his pain. It helped me to know that he has had a good life, that I've done what was possible. Against nature that it ends sometimes, I cannot do anything. But to be sad is natural and necessary, you've lost a friend and he gave you memories, he fulfilled and supported you many times. I am very sorry for you, FG

AWWWWW guys! You make me cry!
Thank you so much for the beautiful words and the beautiful po-ems (Britty speak).
It was bitter-sweet. Tofu was a unique cat, he was like a dog, always with and around me. Actually following commands. Sitting outside my shower waiting for me.. then run to the sink to wait for me to turn on the faucet for him to drink. Met me at the door, headbutting me and welcoming w his tiny meow that didnt fit his huge body (he was biiiig - 18 lb until the last week when he was 6 lb).

He dunked toys and any receipts un-carefully left out in his water-bowl and when he was younger he would fetch toys.

He was extremely laid back, even so much the vets commented on how easy and laid back he was. He never hissed or clawed or bit or anything like that. Just pure love. I got him from ASPCA in Houston - somebody had left him in a cardboard box outside at night. He was clearly abused and it took me 6 months juts to touch him - he would scream like a baby if you did - out of sheer fear.

When he finally came around, he was loyal as nobody else. Two weeks ago, he caught a gecko for me, the gecko left his tail and and ran off but Tofu was sooooo proud of the wriggling tail he had in his mouth, presenting me with his gift.

The vet was spectacular, the bandage for the catheter in his leg was a blue with a big, red heart on it. I held him in my lap and I scratched him under the cheek and he purred and lifted his head for the last time and let out a silent meow soft (too weak to make a sound I guess) and looked at me. I held him for quite a while before I was able to let go.

I have asked for the ashes back so I can bury him in the back yard. I am a zap, but I loved that goofy cat!!!!

Sorry for the rant, but I am heartbroken, he was such a spectacular unique cat.

Thank you so much for lifting my spirits.
