Money, the companies who make these movies and shows only care about getting as much of those "mainstream" dollars as they can. Some tweaking that I don't think I'm going to like, is what Ive seen of the upcoming Superman movie. Hollywood types always think they need to make everything "gritty" or "dark", but that's not who Superman is. Superman is the epitome of a Boyscout. You just know some executive at Warner Brothers, said "Fuck character authenticity! Dark Knight made us a shit ton of money, we need to copy it as much as possible".
basically companies will completely rewrite canon if they know there's a biscuit train with gravy wheels out there. just look at Wolverine the 90s cartoon had one backstory for him, whereas the movie just threw it out the backdoor, and went with something different. It sucks for people that got used to certain fiction, but hey..it's about the money and giving people what you think they like.
Yeah I know it's about those dollars but the movies shouldn't be dictating the source material IMO especially if the source material has been around for decades and has been making money. This is a very recent trend that's happening. More so now than in the past because both Marvel and DC are owned by multi-media companies, although that's been the case with DC for a long time. Warner Brothers/DC does do a great job when it comes to their comic book related cartoon series. Far better than they do with the actual comics themselves over the last several years it seems. And I agree with your take on Superman. No need to make him "gritty & dark" because that's not that character. I don't know why they don't think it would be a money maker since the original 1978 Superman is still regarded as one of the top comic book movie interpertations. And Superman 2 despite some minor flaws still also great IMO. The EFX are dated for both movies but they still hold up. No reason why they couldn't make a faithful Superman movie series that would make money if they didn't let the Hollywood egos get involved.
It's about time. I noticed yesterday that my son has even written on my calendar on July 15, "this is when we're watching Black Dynamite". LOL
I was up late flipping channels a few nights back and that trailer was playing on Cartoon Network and I flipped channels down a bit to one of the movie channels and the actual movie was on.
For everyone who considers themselves a fan of Japanese kaiju (giant monsters) ,giant mechs or anime in general, this looks like the film to see next summer.
Funny. It's called Pacific Rim because the premise of the movie is on an alternate version of Earth a giant dimensional warp opens out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and from this warp giant monsters randomly emerge from time to time and go forth to attack either the Japanese coast line or the territories in or near the US Pacific coast. To combat these monsters the US and Japanese governments create a special joint taskforce that uses giant mechs operated by teams consisting a member from the US and Japan. Director Del Toro has even hinted that there are references in the movie that hint that the monster that first emerged from the rift and attacked Japan was a giant mutated fire breathing T-Rex creature, playfully suggesting that it's Godzilla without saying that it is.
Mechs are nothing new to Godzilla universe This seems like a homage to all the old Godzilla vs xyz films of old Good post, OG... Makes me wanna look for some old Zilla flicks and ultra man Shit was dope
Snk had a giant monster game called king of the monsters too for the neo geo and arcade I basically grew up playing that One character was a Zilla type...another was a giant man, along with two others Feeling real nostalgic now
The earlier Godzilla movies pre-1970's and the newer one's they did in the 90's: Good Shit. The one's from the late 60's & the one's from the 70's were too corny and the FX ,costume quality and design where shit. Use love Gamera back in the day too. They updated him in the 90's also. The first updated movie was killer.
Nice. :smt023 Right after my son saw the trailer & wrote it on the calendar, he popped in his bootleg dvd. lol
Shhhhhhhhh..... Here are the final 3 episodes of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest. If you want to watch them then you'd better do it now in case they get yanked. (Although I they might not since I've notice more than one person having unaired episodes up since the show has resumed airing the remaining new episodes on Disney XD.) :smt017
youtube used to let you download videos w/ realplayer the files were like 15-16megs then, before this HD craze if you wanted to keep what u seen, you just scrolled over the video while watching and realplayer gave u a download option
Makes me sad that this is it, the last of the show. I liked it. I wish they didn't feel the need to replace it with a movie version of Avengers...just let it be!
Just read on a comic/animation related site that the producers of both EMH and replacement show were at the current Comic-Con where they held a panel about the new show and told the audience that it supposedly will be a sequel/continuation of EMH but just with the Avengers from the current movie. People are skeptical about that being the actual case stating that it was said to minimize the backlash Marvel & Disney have gotten from fans for ending EMH. If the show originally was not intended to be a continuation of EMH the producers now have to take steps in that direction since they have went on the record publicly and stated that it is.
dunno about you, but some people watch the cartoons because they get to see MORE avengers or more x-men i know i loved gambit in the 90s cartoon, and the rest of the marvel world that you didn't see in the x-men movies. Cutting out heroes and only including the smaller set from a movie, is like throwing dirt in the faces of people that truly like the expanded universe and the smorgasbord of powers. smh
That's why people are angry about the current Avengers cartoon being cancelled and are skeptical about the new show now being said to be a continuation. If all Marvel/Disney wanted to do was attempt to get play off of the Avengers movie by using only the ones in the movie there are/were plenty of ways to do it without making a whole new show specifically for that reason. All they needed to do was renew the current show for a third season being that it is obviously very popular, have the first story arc's plot set up a situation where the active members of the Avengers for the third season would have been the heroes who were in the Avengers movie. The cartoon series would then continue to have other Avengers showing up as needed as well as introduce other characters from the Avengers & the rest of the Marvel universe as they were currently doing with show. Mofos are too in love with the idea of making that instant buck rather than thinking long term profits overall by utilizing with the properties they have.
