Major outage starting around 5am. The database got corrupted and could not be rebuilt. After numerous attempts I reverted back to the 5am backup-- which may also have issues since that is when the initial corruption took place.

Please report any issues you may find.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

I keep seeing the title of this thread and thinking it is referring to the power issues/outages in the east. I think I need coffee and more of it. :smt042

did the rebuild fail on the vbull side or db side? in the future if you need extra set of eyes let me know, ive been building vbull sites since the 90's.

When running a repair on the database through the admin interface it kept failing on the large "post" table. I tried to repair the post table separately through phpMYadmin and it failed again. Each time it would kick up a bunch of apache processes that would cause high loads and freeze up the server.

I tried to repair the table through command line using the myisamchk repair option and it failed again, saying that /tmp was full. I tried adding tmpdir = /home/mysqltemp to my.conf and restarted mysqld and it still failed on /tmp, saying its full.

That left the option of manually increasing /tmp, moving the database to another server and repairing it, or going back to the 5 a.m. backup. Since each repair attempt took so long I decided to revert back to the 5 a.m. backup.

I was cautious about the 5 a.m. backup because it took place right around the same time the issue came up. But it looks like it took.

I want to move from vBulletin to Invision Power Board. I like that it has a feature where you can rate each post rather than just give reputation.

I purchased the Invision suite (CMS, chat, forum), dating software (datemill), and member management software (amember). I've been prepping a new server to get it all installed.

    understood, your no rookie. :D

how is the db conversion from vbull to the invision suite? if you need some assistance dont hesitate to ask.

That's a good question. Usually those conversions are a pain unless you're converting from a basic install with no add-ons or customization. I will contact you through your account email.
