Not true at all lol. You know how many car insurance claims get filed per year? My premium doesnt change by one red cent. And dude got caught so its not like hes living the high life off insurance money in Bermuda. He still owes the bank and the insurance company, which is a series of investors not policy holders at this point, dont have to raise premiums. So whats your point again?
I know, so is strength, so is reality. Y'all put more value on the mans life than he puts on his own life. FACT: Death is the only thing promised in life. FACT: A mans life is only worth what he himself deems it's worth. FACT: He prefers death to prison... it's *his* choice, not yours. FACT: HE isn't the one that you should feel sorry for, it's his family.
Dude depression is a real disease. For many it can choke the will to live right out of you. His life was valuable to him but he couldn't withstand the pain. No one who ever killed themselves ever really wanted to die they just wanted the pain to end. FACT.
Where do you get this data? Have you spoken to everyone who has committed suicide? I know depression is a real disease. Cowardice on the other hand is not. Dude got rich and a little over his head. He lost everything and made a desperate attempt to salvage. He failed. He waited to see what his punishment would be.... once he found it would be more than he could handle, he took the cowards way out. Every suicide is not a result of depression and you cannot dismiss EVERY one so easily. Look at the evidence, this was cowardice not depression.
To be fair we don't know if he was battling depression before hand and this was just the straw that broke the camel's proverbial back. And no I haven't spoken to everyone who has killed themselves but it seems a very common theme. People don't often (as far as I know) kill themselves after winning big games or getting married to the love of their lives. It seems to be an escape from some type of anguish. No anguish no suicide so to me its easy to reason that people who kill themselves try to get away from the pain. I guess this is one of those agree to disagree moments because killing one's self goes against every biological and evolutionary instinct we have so for to do that seems a bit deeper than just mere cowardice. I appreciate your candor my friend.
I'm actually going to disagree again with your second to last sentence. I don't think it goes against our biological and evolutionary instincts. Well, for one I don't think evolutionary instinct is even possible. Evolution is more of a natural adaptation that occurs on it's own. I suppose you could maaaaaybe stretch and make an argument for biological instinct, but even in the animal kingdom you'll find many examples of animals who commit suicide for various (perceived) reasons. Like I said earlier, in this case... he just took the easy road. If that's what he wanted to do, who am I to place a value on his life that he apparently does not feel that his life has?
If you think killing yourself is easy then talk to those who tried and failed my friend. Biological and evolutionary instincts overlap like the need to procreate. Life favors life meaning all living things want to continue to live on. Which animals commit suicide? I was never aware of there being others besides us.
That's pretty fucking cold even if you didn't care about the guy, but why stop there? Might as well throw a party and celebrate.
Okay, this is the harsh reality. We live in a world of billions of people. Many of whom live in absolute shit conditions. People are born every day and die ever day. Its nature. Nature has no rules when it comes to life and death. We never know when its our time. As for this dude. the way I look at it, some folks can handle pressure and some can't. He couldn't and took the easy way out because he was afraid to go to prison. He saw at his age and what was facing him his life was over in his mind. He made his choices. People go through financial hardships every day and most don't resort to burning down their property and taking a cyanide pill. I'll save my sympathies for someone who is met by the ill fate of death in unexpected circumstances, such as a car accident or some other form of the grim reaper. Right now there are kids getting their heads blown off in Syria by their government and leader who wants to hold on to power at all cost. The world is full of too much unfair harshness for me to dwell on this fellow and his conscious decision to off himself.
I personally don't feel the issue is expectant sympathy as much as it that his suicide is being celebrated.
Ah okay, gotcha as far as that goes. It just seems each step this guy took that led up to his demise was self serving. It was about himself and his downfall Burned down his house via arson to get over on his mortgage Came to court with cyanide capsule on standby Heard the guilty verdict and decided that's it, I'm checking out He made his choices and seemed unable to handle the resulting consequences of it. Knowing the ills of the world we live in there is much sadder stuff than this. The old maxim goes, "Life isn't fair". I'm just indifferent about it. Pretty much, meh.
