have you taken the praxis 2? if so what study guide did you use and what other books did you use to prepare for the exam?
I will be taking it on july 21. I just wanted to know what books you used to prepare. Im using three books. I forget the names exactly but one is from the REA publishing company , the other is "what your fifth grader should know" and math smart. what do you suggest
Took the praxis 2 in English a few years ago and never cracked a study guide on it. I had one of the highest scores in the district. It's not a big deal, but if you don't know your subject or how to write a lesson plan, you're screwed.
yeah. I have nt learned to write a lesson plan. they want us to take once before getting into the teachers ed program and then before internship Im elementary ed
When are you taking it? I'd check books on that first. Lesson planning doesn't change much across the grades. Google, too.
thanks...Im gonna need it. Im not required to pass this time around but Its required before I intern. so Im hoping I can pass it now and not worry about it later
I haven't taken my praxis tests yet but I am required to take them soon in order to keep my teaching license current. I wish you the best of luck with yours ! Let me know how it all goes for you!
What do you teach? Besides working as an exec manager I also teach online at a univ just to keep myself current. Btw, sent an email......
Dont feel bad P, I clicked on it because my cousin and I were just talking about his wife taking praxis (medication) and I wanted to know about the mentioned praxis 2..LOL. I was totally lost when books, study guide, and exam were the focus here. Well at least I learned something new today!!!
I am a substitute teacher . Ive taught at every grade level but I now choose to teach elementary almost exclusively. I love how hopeful the atmosphere is in grammar schools. This will be my fifth year with the district and I love it! I've chosen not to become a contracted teacher though. Unfortunately our "union" has no teeth. They do alright for us but essentially we are all free agents just left to fight for ourselves . There's no job security for newly contracted teachers in Nevada and they've even frozen cost of living raises and put an end to 12 mo. School years and specialist pay incentives. It's truly sad how little value is placed on education in this country. Sighhh...I digress . Lol!
Wow. I really admire school teachers. You must have tons of patience to deal with kids. Fortunately for me, I only have to deal with undergrad and grad level students. You are absolutely correct about where our education system is. I would love to work in Nevada ( esp. Vegas). It's one of my fav places. did u get my email ?
No I didn't but I havent checked thru all of my email in several days because I'm in the process of moving and it was my birthday yesterday so it's just been a busy few days
thanks all for wishing me good luck. I have heard people say they have taken it multiple times. I will do my best the first time around
