Look up the meaning of the offensive word in Urban Dictionary. The word also means "friends or homies." Still might not be acceptable for WP to use the word, but I'm thinking that's how Gwyneth meant it. :smt102

like I stated before it would have been best not have said it at all. she could have POSSIBLY got away with it with NAS (as you see he is down with her, R. simmons and Ice T).

“If it offends you, that means you accept it. You cannot accept everything someone says about you, good or bad. If two women judge you and one says "That's one ugly mother fucker" and the other says "Nah, that is one sexy SOB". Which one is correct? Your ego will naturally want to embrace the woman who calls you sexy and become offended with the one who called you ugly. Both women spoke on you out of their own tastes and preferences and for that reason neither is correct. The only one that matters is your own thoughts on yourself.

So this girl calls you a n*****. SHE takes the action of calling you a n*****. The fact that she can fix her lips to call you this speaks volumes of her and nothing of you. If you choose to be offended by it, you've also chosen to accept it. Much like with women judging you based on their tastes, this girl calling you this is based on something inside her.

You will live your entire life with people putting you down or praising you. The only thing that should ever really matter is what comes from the inside.

Are you a n*****? If you answer 'no' that is all that really matters, isn't it?”

Nonsense. One's self esteem has nothing to do with whether or not someone else is being deliberately offensive.
If you go through life believing you're above being slighted, disrespected or offended, you should prepare yourself to live the rest of your life as a doormat.
Expect to never be promoted, never to be elevated to a position of leadership.

WHen others perceive you have little respect for yourself it will be harder for others to have respect for YOU.

Respectfully I disagree and still believe Ms. Paltrow should have never included that word in her tweet. It was dumb on her part. It showed a lack of cultural sophistication and perspective on her part.

When Black folk use the N-word, it's a form of self-hatred.
When others use the N-word, it sound stupid at best and hateful at worst.

If you allow yourself to be looked upon as a doormat, then you'll be treated as such. A person with dignity in this cutthroat world would most likely endure hardships, but those attitudes will catch the attention of those who share pathos with you. Do you honestly believe that you are truly alone in this debacle known as "Overcoming Adversity?" If you do that and believe there are limits to your own achievements, then you're perpetuating a defeatist attitude.

Had people like King and other prominent leaders simply gave up on a whim that that's how it is, then we all would still be clinging on empty hope, believing that someone else would get the job done. But it all starts within ourselves and our means to empower oneself also means that you can reassure your own means of success. To succeed is to endure and continue to rise above influence and others will take notice.

When people use that word, it's a reminder that there are still a lot of work to do to socially progress the country even moreso.

Pretty much. Lead by example, right?

  11. Well i wouldn't expect anyone with a avatar that says black republican to have the same views as me...so more power to you. I don't care. No one should be using the word period. Look at it this way, lets take the word bitch. It's a offensive slur against women. Some women however use it as a term of endearment like "thats my bitch" or "she's a bad bitch". However, does that make it right for us to call any woman a bitch? NO. The N word is the same thing. If words are just words call a woman a cunt and see where that gets you. Some words people just shouldn't say.

Oh sorry. My bad. You were of course just joking ,right? No tender ass when it comes to you of course........

I agree that no one should even bother to use the word (black folks included) but what Paltrow did was utterly harmless.
