Good to see you posting but where did you get that anyone was arguing about this. Just a discussion. No insults have been thrown out at anyone.

We can talk about a man eating someone's face, pedophilia, and racism on this forum but I still don't get why the discussion of weight causes soooo much discomfort.
If you don't like this sort of thread then just ignore it and participate in one you actually like. Anyway like I said good to see you posting again hope all is well kid.

To put being overweight, something MANY people struggle with, on the same bill as the things you mentioned, is an insult in itself. Bashing people who are overweight discriminates against people who are part of this forum and who want to be valued and respected just like someone who is not overweight. And being called a "fat fuck" wouldn't be an insult to someone who is overweight?

My opinion on obesity being considered unhealthy: It is.

Having the body shape of an impregnated walrus probably isn't good for one's esteem of self. Then again, the notion, having a modicum of thickness makes one fat, is ridiculous and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Is it really? People in the position of being overweight have far more control over that than people who are molested or discriminated against based on race so take that poor me parade some where else Ches.
I personally haven't bashed a soul in this thread. Mentioning and discussing weight is no difference than when we discuss race in so many other threads so I don't see why this topic should be off limits. Outside of maybe Iggy no one said anything negative about people who struggle with weight. All that's been mentioned, at least by me, is that its gross misinformation to pretend that anorexia and bulimia are anywhere near as big a problem as obesity.
Why can't we discuss this? Its a national health problem. No one is calling any single person on the forum out so explain to me how this is insulting.

THIS thread is mostly a discussion which is fine. And I didnt say you insulted anyone, just corrected you when you said no one had. I still don't think obesity is on the same level as racism or pedophilia, for instance. People have weight issues for many reasons, not just laziness or lack of control. Racism has at its roots, hatred and ignorance. Pedophilia is abuse. These are all weighty matters, so yes, I can see that you may equate them in that way, as topics. But to say that an overweight person is the same as a racist or pedophile would be off the mark.

Where did I say that they were? All I said was I don't get why we can have threads where there are pages upon pages discussing Sandusky raping minors or another one about racism in America but weight is the topic that is some how off limits and sets certain members off. I seriously just don't get it.
And I never said that laziness and/or lack of control were the only reasons people were overweight but lets be real its the overwhelming majority. I get a very small percentage of people can't lose weight because of other medical problems but every time we bring that up in the discussion it creates muddling of the actual facts. The main reason people are getting fatter in this country is poor food choices, massive portions, and lack of exercise. The mere 2% or less who have thyroid problems aren't worth bringing up in the discussion.
It's like bringing up the small number of people who die of lung cancer but never smoked cigarettes. In that case should we ignore cigarette smoking and only focus on the other ways people get lung cancer? Doesn't make much sense does it?

Btw don't throw out words like "bashing" if you don't mean to imply that I was insulting others. Its misleading.

Too many times on this forum, the subject of overweight women, in particular, comes up and it's seldom in a "discussion" format. Many people STRUGGLE with weight issues and they don't need the added pressure of derogatory or insulting comments. Discussing ways to combat obesity is one thing; criticizing or insulting (not directing this solely at you) someone who is overweight is another. And we both know it has been done. That's what irks me.

If there were people on here that struggled with alcoholism, would it be acceptable to call them "drunk f*cks?" Just a thought....

Well I think you're fighting battles of the past because this thread hasn't been directed at women alone and I read through the thread and haven't seen any insulting posts by anyone outside of Iggy's no fat chicks allowed post. In this particular thread its been a peaceful discussion. We're having a hard time getting to the solution part though since we can't collectively agree on it being a problem since the underweight problem in this country is apparently a crisis situation lol.

Btw if you saw someone say fat fuck report them and be done with it. Everyone isn't jumping on that bandwagon.

Nice, Paniro. And who you gonna blame for every other thread that turns into an argument? C'mon now. If you're gonna single me out in this one, get busy on the other threads. I'll wait....

To be fair the threads he usually participates in, at least the ones I'm in, he doesn't complain the arguing. I'll admit its not just you saying "oh God another one about weight" and you shouldn't be singled out. But be fair if you don't want to talk about this fine but why should others be restricted from doing so. Like I said no one is being called out or personally ridiculed so what really is the harm.
For the members so sensitive about weight then do something like Huntress suggested and let me add she actually DID something about it.
So instead of making the world responsible for your feeling about your weight (not talking about you Ches this a general statement) do something about it.

There are several members who are more than willing to offer advice. Hell I think Paniro is even a trainer(correct me if I'm wrong)

I don't want Paniro's or anyone's help. I am not complaining about my weight. I complain when people insult overweight people, as Iggy did. I also complain when people want to place all value on external appearances FOR ANY REASON. (And seriously, should I even have to defend that in THIS forum?)

At least I don't get on here and start dumbass threads that invite argument like some people do. (Don't worry, Paniro, I won't single you out.)

So please explain to me what your gripe is then in this particular thread?

i wasn't sure why this would be called a condition i really was not sure if there were other factors that cause them to be that way if i don't the problems solutions can't be offered i'm just viewing it in one way i see obesity and just felt it came from laziness/overeating i never knew.

Weight issues will always rub certain people the wrong way and i can see the usual suspects here. The only people i have issues with are women who proclaim the beauty and power of plus size then go on to lose weight drastically e.g. Jennifer Hudson, America Ferrara and NOW Chaka Khan. If you are OK with your weight great but dont pretend to be if you are not cus it smacks of hypocrisy.

Whenever chesy tries to talk in these threads you make it personal by saying she should talk to someone about her weight. Who are you to decide for her? Who do you align yourself with the skinny or the fat.

Didn't your mom ever tell you to watch who you hang out and align yourself with?? :smt085
