    basically...

all of my HS classes in Philly were 25-30 kids per room, and I think I did well. In the end it came down to how much drive and interest I had in my own education. I did my homework, read the books, participated in class and actually cared about where I went to college. If a kid lacks that internal drive, it won't matter how small their classes are.

So many other factors are at play that make blaming ratios seem unfair and short-sighted. For one thing, teachers in this city don't make much. These guys hold degrees and make well under what a RN with a two-year associate makes in this city. Two, a lot of these kids are just rotten and have bad parents who send them to school dirty as hell. There's much more going on that politics and policies can't really fix.

I completely agree! If you reduced the class size from 30 to 15, kids wouldn't all of a sudden start getting A's. Parents being actively involved in their kids education makes a big difference. Parents need to figure out how their child learns the best, get them extra help if needed, promote college. I think blaming class sizes is an easy excuse.

Like I said, Romney is trying to say focus on education because that's where the real change will happen.

Obama is smart though. Every good dealer knows that you get people "on the come back". If you actually educated them and helped them get good jobs then why would we need Obama? Can't let that happen!!

Mitt "good guy" Romney is panning for a minority vote. He will dangle that carrot to get the vote but for one reason or another, won't be able to fulfill it. It probably won't be bc of a obstructionist congress. So my guess would be that he doesn't really have any real intention of actually delivering on his campain promises.

Republican or democrat...the NEVER do. It's like the courting/wedding/honeymoon/rest of the marriage. That woman is on her BEST behavior..the wedding is HER day so you know she's on her game..honeymoon? They don't call it honey for nothing. But you ask how many men's wife's stop having sex once the deal is done. They no longer have to impress anyone. They got the ring. Everything changes after you get what you want.

And you're just now realizing this?? This SOP's been going on for decades.

Just now realizing this? Lol. How stupid do you think I am?
I DON'T vote for the above reason hands down and the old "blah blah blah" rationality behind why I should vote wont change the fact that I don't vote. If I saw that we had a SOP that worked and there was someone I felt I could believe in then yes..I would vote.

But just because I have some right or duty to choose between a shit sandwich or a huge douche does not mean I will. I agree with Obama before I'll ever agree with Romney. I trust neither tho.

How stupid do you think people are when you stated the extreme obvious. Was my point, actually.
And the word you were looking for was; pandering. [IMG]

Stated what that was obvious exactly? Mr Wilson seems to think that mitt really has some kind of heart for minority people. Obvious is in the eye of the beholder I guess.
And thank you for the grammar lesson. I'm actually posting on my phone and it does not like this web sites browser. The processor can't handle the intensity of the graphics so it likes to change the right words because it can't keep up with the speed of my phone. Just a litte stupidity there for ya.
Your English lesson has been duly noted though ms. Webster.

My phone does not like the graphic intensity...not browser. As my browser is safari. And it can't keep up with the speed of my typing.
Just in case anyone felt the need to give me even more tutoring in what I essentially do all day.

high school and elementary would be different when it comes to ratio...possibly...but like you stated bad ass kids come from bad ass parents and there is a lot more than just policies. also just because you open a charter school everything will be cool....that is a damn lie

Every politician panders to a group...that's the point of running for office. Democrats should know. Obama is kissing the ass of a different group every week.

My point is that Mitt still took the time to go to West Philadelphia and meet with African American leaders and take hard hitting questions about the future of African American youth. He could have easily gone to an all white school or university to deliver his education plan. He deserves credit for that in my opinion. And I think he got it right when he says that education is the civil rights issue of our generation.

There are plenty of studies that link education to well paying jobs, number of marriages, homeownership, etc. And his education plan is implementing measures to help.

So even though Mitt Romney is white and rich you write him off immediately. While our BLACK president doesn't bother taking the time visit the African American community, has not addressed any issues affecting our community, and has mentioned no plans to do so in his second term. But he shows up at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles on the campaign trail and black people smile and cheer...it's embarassing!

You're far too short-sighted. President Obama is the U.S. President. Not the President of Black People in the United States. He represents everyone and that's the reality. Running for the highest office in the land requires you to reach out to everyone, regardless of affiliation or ethnic identity. Secondly, seeing that you've missed the mark, he actually attended the NAACP events and delivered his speeches to black communities.

The fact is, he does reach out to black Americans, the same way he reaches out to everyone else. We're all Americans first and foremost and while there are individual hardships to overcome for some groups, saving the overall system is top priority and it's not just the black groups that need help, it's the entire United States. Beyond that, that's what black organizations like the NAACP comes in. They further the discussions, as do radio hosts, and other people who are about black causes. Putting so much weight on the commander-in-chief wouldn't bode so well by the media obviously and would be a big pickings for the conservative media to get on his ass for being a "radical Black Panther."

Also, Romney attending an African-American school and delivering a speech was noble, but lacks any sincerity since, after all, he's trying to win over voters since this is a race. This is the only time he did it and most likely won't talk about it ever again. As fro Obama? He actually lives it 24/7 with his job. So you can't compare apples to oranges.

Lastly, I have a sneaking suspicion you're someone who would be quick to call Obama the "Nigger-In-Chief" if we winds up pushing greater emphasis on black causes.

Who's bullshitting? I'm only speaking on the obvious, kiddo. That's how political prudes work. Observe and react in utterly misguided reasoning.

And you need to be check yourself for insulting some of the women on here like you're this "perfect person" with the best tastes in women. You maybe 6'2, 29 years old, and built, but your maturity level doesn't reflect your age. That's not an insult. That's an observational fact. To add insult to injury, you constantly poke fun of fat people, hypocrite.
