Or Wonder Woman....??? I mean she does have the "Wonder" in her name. Actually, I always envisioned Wonder Woman as a transsexual.
I had a nerd argument with someone about Wonder Woman's sexuality. He argued that on a island of only women they were bound to be lesbians. My theory is that they don't have any sexuality at all. I mean, in a large group of women, some would be gay but most would be straight. So if there aren't any dudes on their girl island, your going to have a lot of sexually and psychologically frustrated women. So I surmise that the magic that keeps the island hidden also suppresses their sexual desires, so the women don't tear each other heads off.
In a way, the Amazonian culture from Wonder Woman's world was largely based on an island called Lesbos. Where only women basically inhabited. You're most likely correct that it doesn't correlate to sexuality, but then again, from a Western standpoint, it would be labeled as such since Lesbos natives engaged in relations with one another, but never identified themselves as lesbian or gay.
when it's interrracial....it's the same principle...ppl being angry about something that doesn't affect them.
IDK if you were trying to be funny or serious but that last line especially, lmao! They should put that scene in the movie.
you can say that about almost anything. when jackie integrated baseball it was pandering to non-racist whites. every company panders to its customers, if they didn't they would be out of business. i don't see why ppl should be mad about it now! last i checked comics are for kids, i don't see why adults care so much. a good comic is an escape for a child. it's a way of coping for introverts who can escape into fantasy and relate to the characters. why can't gays have someone to identify with. the reason why they picked batman or some big time character is because in this recession comics like all businesses focus on their big moneymakers. another character wouldn't get any support. and for those complaining about altering a winning formula, i counter with the fact alot of racist shows made money too. but there comes a certain point when you must move to the 21st century. gays are here to stay.....
I still miss wrestling when there was competition and it was much more entertaining. I must confess...I was a late-bloomer.
Update: The gay character is the golden age Green Lantern. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=38946
Alan Scott, huh. Earth-2 is being treated in the old school parallel Earth manner so technically all they did was create a new gay character with an established name and power set, since all the Earth-2 characters are just new takes of old characters. The new Hawkgirl from what the sneak previews they leaked awhile back will be black.
