Nope I would not pressure my kid to go with who I would want them to date,especially not about skin color.
Now if they dated someone who was in and out of jail,abusive,or an addict I may have a talk with my kid.
But skin color,religion,or nationality are things I would definitely not bring up.
Everyone has their own taste ,likes and dislikes in a partner,so I'd leave that to my child,and hope the chosen one makes them happy.

 

My son is mixed race Irish-Italian and Me. He is light skinned. His preference at age 19 is dark skinned Afro-American women and Jamaican women. He has also dated White, Puerto-Rican, Pakistani-American, and Chinese-American. When he was a child on the school bus he was head over heels for a little girl from Turkey. I would not care one bit if he was not interested in Afro-American women. It is his life, and his choice.

 

Wouldn't you feel that you were being 'filtered' out?

 

I have two daughters(from the same womb holder) and they are mixed, the bm is a WW.

I wouldnt care what nationality they are long as he never lays hands on either of my daughters.

I was playing Devil's Advocate. To answer the question. I wouldn't care who my future child dated. I only hope for a healthy, happy baby. Who, in turn, grows up to be a healthy, happy person.

 

As a black man who has made his own choices in life about who I love as a partner, I will afford any child of mine that right as well.

I will raise them with core values about responsibility, respect and discipline and entrust them to make the right decisions in life.

Whomever they choose to be with, within the parameters of a mutually respectful relationship, would be entirely fine by me, any less would make me a hypocrite in that I afford myself that opportunity in my choice of partner.
