Why aren't there more black/white couples in movies and tv?

I'm not talking about Jungle Fever, Save the Last Dance, or Guess Who either. Those movies don't count, because they are specifically about interracial relationships and the issues they deal with. I'm talking about a movie where interracial relationships are not the theme, but there happens to be an interracial couple. Like for instance, US Marshalls. There was an interracial couple in the movie, but it was never mentioned and that wasn't the theme of the movie.

The other thing I've noticed is that there generally isn't that much of a ruckus when it's a Latino/black couple or Asian/white couple for instance. But whenever there's potential for a white/black couple, it seems like hollywood's attitude is "Oh, no, no, no, lets stay away from that one".

If there are black/white co-stars, it's ok for them to be friends, co-workers, partners, or adversaries. But god forbid they be lovers. Several movies demonstrate this. I'Robot, I am Legend, Bad Boys, Pelican Brief, Kiss the girls, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and the list goes on.

To be fair that's changed a lot. Check out shows like New Girl or Happily Married or cable shows like that Don Cheadle show. IR in shows is on the rise and as far as movies nothing comes to mind right this second but I'm sure someone else will bring it up.
I'm not gonna lie I would love to see an epic like Lord of the Rings or HP with an IR couple that was a bm and ww. That would be awesome. Funny thing is once that becomes the norm then what? Something to ponder.

Simple... Despite corporations not coming out and saying it, they'll pander toward anyone, so long as theres enough of them spending money. That includes bigots. They'll lose out on the white male and black female demographic who have always shown disapproval of black male/white female relationships.

You'll probably notice that white male/asian female couples are represented much more often. Thats because white men approve of it, white women dont care and asian males not only make up a mere 2.5% of the US population, but also culturally tend to be content with the idea of white prosperity.

Actually New Girl is a BM/BW relationship, and Don Cheadle's main swing before they broke up was with a BW. However, in Don Cheadle's, he did bang his crazy ex wife a few times, and we have no idea if anything happened between cheadle and kristen.

because it is always classed as "brainwashing" and it seems to "upset" those insecure wm who call in the station to complain about a bm with a ww on tv, just like they did with the super bowl ad awhile back and that's just an advert

if people are that insecure about seeing a ww with a bm on tv that they would email or phone in to complain then that alone tells you how scared they are of seeing it, and alot of these assholes are involved in TV and will have no problem in favoring other IR couples over ww and bm which happens alot of the time

The last movies I watched were there was a BM/WW without any theme of it was Inglorious Bastards and Red Tales. Especially Inglorious Bastards because it wasn't part of the main story, it just was.

House of Lies is a great show and the first show where a Black man swirls more than once in nearly every episode. Cheedle made history in my book. The shows in the UK are more advanced than the US show where IR is concerned. Search on this site on shows and movies. Also, make another list on those shows and movies that is worthy of being seen again and again.

I was curious if there was one on House of Lies between Cheadle and Kristen. On the preview for the show, it shows him flirting with her, but nothing actually happens. That would be interesting if something does happen between those two on the show, because in real life they're both about 15 years apart. And that's something that's even more rare both in entertainment and in real life. Interracial couples who are more than several years apart.

Really? So House of Lies does have IR in alot of episodes? I'll have to check it out then. I don't have cable, but I guess I could watch it online. No wonder that show is on Showtime. If a show like that was on network tv, ppl would have a hissy fit.

Yeah I've been told by several that the british shows don't avoid IR like the american shows do. I've been watching some of them lately. So far I know of:

    Merlin,
    Dr. Who,
    The Shadow Line,
    Being Human,
    Luther,
    55 Degrees North
    Peep Show
    Eastenders
    Misfits
    Skins
    The Shadow Line

Out of all of these, Skins, Misfits, Being Human, and 55 degrees North have IR in alot of episodes. Less so in the other shows. Let me know if anyone has any other recommendations. I haven't found any movies yet.

I think ppl are being influenced by what they see on screen. If the uk is more open about having IR's on screen than the us, then that might explain why the uk is generally more open than the us about IR in real life.

If more shows did, they would probably make the fact that they are a BM//WW couple the gimmick of the show making it all kinds of suck. But I don't have cable anyway so I don't care who they put in what show.

7 episodes, then canceled with 5 unaired.

    Common FOX pattern.

    House of Lies

Next season House of Lies will open with Bell in bed naked but covered with a bed sheet. Then the camera will move to the left showing Cheadle naked but covered with the same bed sheet.

They will say some words like, "This was a mistake, we were drunk!"

Implying they had sex last night but regret it the next morning. No sexual situations will be shown. And none will happen in the future.

This is strange because Kristen Bell did kiss a brother in "Gracie's Choice" a made for tv movie.

But Soulthinker said that Cheadle is bangin white women in like every episode. If that's true, to me it doesn't matter if it's Kristen Bell or someone else. Just as long as the brotha is gettin it on with attractive white women, and it's not made out to be a joke, or people are stereotyped, or any other negative portrayal.

Anybody remember the show LAX with Blair Underwood and Heather Locklear? It only lasted for one season, but I heard they were involved with each other on the show. True?

Saw the commercial for this new TBS show of three men,two are White and the other is Black. They all have relationships with other women. On the brother going to swirl I have no idea.

Is it Men At Work? It has 4 guys with one brotha. One of the guys was on "That 70's Show".
