Nobody is saying use of the word is justified in any way, just pointing out that those Black people who do use the word are not the only ones who use racial slurs to refer to their ethnic group.

........The misconception is one thing,..... but I thought we were addressing how we are so quick to take umbrage for the use of that word with what is clearly a double set of standards........

Context is everything. Just saying the word isnt enough. Theres a huge difference between my friends calling me asshole and strangers doing it.

To clarify (although many people have already done so, I wanted to say it myself), the post was ONLY intended to show that the expectation that black people hold themselves up to a standard that every other group on the earth also violates is not fair. I'm not saying it's okay, just that black people are not this mass of singularly dysfunctional people. There's enough hypocrisy to go around. I personally do not use the word, so I'm put in the curious position of defending something I disapprove of. However, if it's wrong for one, it's wrong for all, without regard to race.

It's just that the very essence of racism is the evaluation of black people (or insert other ethnic group) by standards that you do not use to evaluate other people.

Just call me the devil's advocate. lol
