The main cast is black in Think Like a Man. Sure there is some ww in it but the fact remains the MAIN actresses are black. Just see the trailer.

And thats fine BBW if you dont like Rottentomatoes but I find it to be a great website to gauge whether or not I'll see a movie.

For example, I was kinda wanting to see The Raven but it currently only has a 20% approval rating. Thanks to RT, I think I'll skip it and wait until the Avengers comes out (which has a 96% approval rating);)

    1. You were complaining about having 0% non-black characters, which was proven wrong on your point.

    2. So if RT gives a movie a low score, then you're quick to avoid it? Got it. Why not just see it or bootleg it if you don't want to waste the money? I avoid paying for all movies seeing that there aren't any movies worth coughing up $10 or more.

    1. The main cast members are black (is that I meant). There are very few white women in this film (and its targeted towards black audiences)

    2. Yeah basically. RT is a great website for me to find out if the movie is good or bad without having to sit thru it. Movies are about 7 dollars where I'm at, which isnt that bad imo so I'll shelve out the cash for me and my girl to see it. You mean to tell me you bootleg every film you see? Damn that sounds lonely.

Maybe it's me but I don't understand the significance. Hunger Games has been out for weeks now. It obviously wasn't going to stay on top forever. TLAM did better than expected regardless but I'm not getting the endless HG comparison. It's like every article I read about how well this movie did has to bring up Hunger Games.

so having a small number of white people in the movie is good, bad because...?

    1. So, the criteria for you to enjoy the movie would require a white woman as a main cast member? Strange fellow, you are.

    2. You're sorely mistaken. I never bootlegged any movies nor implied as such. And you've missed the post where I said that I'll rather wait for the movies to come on cable instead.

You're more than welcomed to use sites like Rotten Tomatoes to formulate your opinion on a movie. But, as I said, aggregated numbers doesn't indicate a quality movie. Just the movies that people enjoy. In other words, a good level of bias.

    i was joking.

But yeah I don't want more films like Think Like a Man. Its a shitty film based off of a Steve Harvey book.

    No thanks.

    it's true tho

movies with manly black actors are very limited in scope

once in a while u'll get something like Redtails, that dares to defy the norm

Or the Last Dragon. I was watching that tonight and even though it was a little cheesy you don't see many movies with black people on a quest of self discovery or realization. We usually just dance or play with a ball if we aren't trying to make people laugh.

I was surprised honestly, TLAM does have a pretty solid cast though so I could see how people can like it. I took my girl to see "The 5-Week Engagement", it was a solid movie and Kevin Hart had a very good bit in the movie! The brother is in two movies out in theaters right now, props to him! I sorta want to see TLAM but I just don't find Steve Harvey funny or any of his work remotely good.

I let Rotten Tomatoes guide my movie ventures these days, I've been burnt on entertainment media so bad these past couple few years- I've become reluctant to spend my cash on anything thats crap. So I look at reviews, mainly Robert Ebert's reviews- I feel the man has good taste in cinema.

My lady wanted me to take her to see The Devil Inside and I almost walked out and demanded a refund but I didn't want to look like a cheap dick. Last film I gave a shot was Red Tails because of the whole "If your black, you need to support Red Tails" propaganda. Red Tails wasn't seriously bad, just very flawed, knowing they shot a lot for that movie I felt they should have re-cut it and dubbed over the lines with different content. It was way too hokey for me to get into, and the ending was just a clash- the guy addresses his alcoholism, a fellow soldier just died, and a lost soldier who was in a nazi camp comes from no where to say he's ok and then BOOM its the end of the movie with them getting medals, all that happening in 3 minutes before the credits! It wasn't because it was a black movie either, it just was a flop, George Lucas has a history of this, anyone remember Howard the Duck? How about Episode One?

The one positive thing I can say about Red Tails is that they are going to exploit it! Kids learning about black history in school will probably watch red tails in the future. What would you rather show a bunch of short attention span having children? A boring movie that has became dilapidated with time or one that runs on sugar and high octane kerosene with state of the art special effects of its time? That being said, I wish there was a Red Tails when I was younger.
