European firms bring in top talent, as evidenced by the prevalence internationally of European and Japanese managers. And note the over -representation of US get-rich-quick-style managers in the firms responsible for the global economic crisis.

Okay, back to the thread topic. Romney is a LOT more wealthy than Biden. Judging by their relative wealth, I bet the amounts are roughly an equivalent share of each person's income.

That statement is ridiculous! GE's tax rate in 2011 was 29 percent. Their U.S. tax expense last year was $2.6 billion. Their overall tax rate both foreign and domestic was 7%. Oh and don't forget they employ 301,000 people worldwide. So people need to get their facts straight.

It is nowhere near equivalent. The Romneys donated about 16.4 percent of their adjusted gross income of $42.5 million in the two-year period, according to their 2010 tax returns and an estimate for 2011 taxes. The 2010 return shows $3 million in charitable contributions, and the 2011 estimate shows $4 million in charitable contributions. If $369 is 16.4% of Biden's adjusted gross income then he needs to look for a new profession.

    how so?

And lmao at bringing up Trayvon Martin in this thread.

I also dont care that Biden donated more in 2009. The fact remains he only donated 369 bucks in the year in which we're discussing. Thats fuckin disgraceful. You guys are hilarious in how far you'll go to stick up for this cheapskate.

If I recall correctly, he was one of the few senators who wasn't a multimillionaire. Obviously I'm using hyperbole, but you get my larger point.

The company reported worldwide profits of $14.2 billion, and said $5.1 billion of the total came from its operations in the United States.

Its American tax bill? None. In fact, G.E. claimed a tax benefit of $3.2 billion.

    They pay taxes...yes...

but i think this thread has degenerated into based on the amount biden could have given vs how much he gave

GE is no different. Except they are slimey and corrupt and try to get OUT of paying taxes.
Whereas Biden actually gave a donation.
If youre going to base what someone should pay based on what they CAN pay, then the GE situation is more than relevant.

GE follows the same laws that exist for any corporation and they pay their taxes. The benefit for them is that they are a multinational corporation and do not need to be taxed on profits derived in another country.

But the thing that is so funny to me is that everyone here acts like they don't try to pay the least amount of taxes possible under the law. I go to H&R Block every tax season and I use every deduction or tax credit I can to lower my bill. Why wouldn't you try to lower your taxes? You're stupid if you don't. So everyone needs to stop complaining and look at themselves.

And side note- this wouldn't be an issue if we simplified the tax code and went towards a flatter tax system. Then you wouldn't have people using every loophole and deduction trying to lower their bill. But Obama plays the classic "look over there" routine as he empties out your wallet.

What the hell does it really matter what someone did or didn't donate? How much Romney donated doesn't impress me, and I don't feel any need to pass judgement on Biden for what he donated...it really doesn't say anything about them as people. Without knowing someone on a personal level and being close enough to them to be privy to information about their personal situation...financial or otherwise, you don't know their circumstances or motivation and can't make a judgement call about what type of person he/she is.

Being rich or donating a lot of money doesn't mean someone is a better person than someone else who has less or donates less. When it comes down to how "good" a person is, it doesn't have shit to do with money and everything to do with character. Some of the best and most giving people I've ever known haven't had much in the way of money or worldly goods, but they willingly give whatever they've got to help someone without expecting anything in return.

    LOL!! Bill Mahr is crazy.

He just broke it down that Romney gave ALL his charitable donations to the MORMON CHURCH, not non-profit charitable organizations that help the poor.

That's not 'charity', that's pouring cash into your own people.

If you're a Morman, Mitt Romney is generous.:smt021

I've said the same thing pages ago and yet...that went the way of a fogged memory.

To add, the Mormon church requires that people donate 10% of their income to the church.

As if there is something wrong with giving lots to a church(which does tons of charity work)
Romney definitely donates a ton to the Mormon church but it looks like Romney also donates to others as well

ANd yet Biden only donated 369 dollars and you folks have zero problem with it. Bwhahaha:smt081
