http://limelinx.com/files/5186c7d43b0e227f4527c459175402e9 It's the first beat I made using Ableton live. Wanna see what you think, especially at the end to see if it fits the song or not.
Really good work fam. It's very 90s west coast r&b. I could hear SWV or someone like Monica on it. My only critique is the guitar you're using for most of it. I would use a steel aguitar and bring it up have a tempo maybe a sharp C or even sharp D. The electric guitar was on point so was the riff at the end. Like I said really good work fam.
Thanks for checkin' it man. The guitar was the hardest part. I think I went through every guitar vst in the program trying to decide which one to use.
Yeah ableton is rough. Its a great loop program, I used it when I was using more pc based programs. I like it way more than reason or fruity loops but you don't get the same selection you do like logic or even garage band.
Agree with everybody else. I like it! I like that you have the beat evolving. Thats huge to me. One suggestion is to progress the beat a little faster. It got a really slow start. Then toward the end, change it up a bit. An example: remove the bass completely before it fades out.
Thanks for the feedback man. I'm the same way with most of my beats. I like for them to build up over time. Think I might make the tempo a bit faster.
See, and I liked the mellowness of it. It's actually a very chill song. Something you lay back with... Why not do two versions? ps: Great for a cruise drive, and actually a nice love-making tune, too!
I meant faster, not in the speed of the beat. But rather how quickly the beat evolved. I.E. how quickly it progressed to the point when all the sounds/instruments were included. :smt045
I'll most likely do another version(or more). Some beats, I have like 6 or 7 different versions with small changes. And I make my beats specifically for a cruising vibe. Ahhh, I gotcha. My friend told me that my beats take too long to evolve. I guess it's one of those habits I don't wanna break. Honestly can't decide. I think my beats are better left as instrumentals, although I used to remix tracks by throwing acapellas over my beats.
I'm so glad you're back to making music again... I like it. It's a very chilled beat... I do hear the West Coast in it....
Good job, BA. It's super smooth & relaxing...I've had a rough day & my mood is much improved after listening to it. :smt023
