Ugh http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/02/01/tyler-perry-alex-cross-idris-elba/ I guess Elba is too damn masculine and make s too much sense to cast with potential white love interests....smh
That's kinda disappointing, Alex Cross is a intellectual man's man. Tyler Perry is a little to sensitive, to do that character justice IMHO. Now, if he was up for the roll of Alex's 80 year old grandmother I would say it was perfect casting. I would like to see the "Old Spice" guy given the roll. That's how I picture Alex Cross in my head anyway.
In other breaking news...Bin Laden was killed. No offense but this is old news. It was a topic of discussion throughout the www this time LAST YEAR. By the way is there any surprise that this film hasn't been released yet? No one is interested. The vast majority of Alex Cross readers are white and this casting decision probably lost them as soon as it was announced. This is how "serious" Hollywood takes the casting of black leading men. I mean Idris wasn't perfect for the part, but freakin' Tyler Perry? Really?
WTF??? Im a HUGE Alex Cross Fan but I didnt know about this casting. I already didnt like Morgan Freeman as Alex but this guy??? Dont get me wrong, Morgan is a great actor but the way Alex is described in all the books just did not assemble Morgan Freeman in my head... Tyler Perry is a BAD choice imo. He could play the part of Sampson, if he was in the movie. Idris would have rocked that movie for sure. He was pretty cool in Ghostrider2
Wow good eye I forgot about Sampson. It would be nice to see a guy who looks believable hooking up with a beautiful the way Alex Cross and Ashley Judd should have in Kiss The Girls
I so co-sign this! They just showed that movie again on tv the other night in Germany. Freeman looks like he could be her dad, doesnt he?
Youre too kind more like her grandfather. There was absolutely no chemistry between tgem. Guess Denzel turned it down considering he was the other black actor at the time
Ashley and Morgan had plenty of chemistry that carried over to the offscreen in a friendship they formed (they would later do two more movies together). But casting Morgan, a senior citizen even back then, meant there would be no romance. Fuck it. Who am I kidding? Even if they had cast a young Billy Dee Williams there would have been no hookup.
Update: First pix of Tyler Perry as Alex Cross And here is the Villain of the movie, Matthew Fox (Jack from Lost)
Goddamn. What the fuck kind of anabolics did the studio put Matthew Fox on? That motherfucker is shredded like a body builder.
lol wow imo id pick Idris over Tyler Perry or 90 percent of any other bm Stringer Bell was smooth as fuck
