Now why would he want o have you and his new gf on the same "rug" (what ever that means):). Just sounds stirring to me. I am so sorry you have to deal with this on top of his "I need to cut back on child support". Do you want me to send Guido?

stirring is his specialty, bless him. luckily i called child support and know that he has to pay what he's been paying or i can take him to court (we go off last tax return). i'm playing hard ball, which will shock him because i normally go with the flow so we can maintain a friendly relationship.

and no need for guido lol ...i is guido and turning quite scary :smt106

    Alectrona,
The holidays are supposed to be a festive time, a time for family to share, but it sounds like your holiday season is rapidly digressing into a mini-hell that you are the only one sharing in. I"m probably out of line for daring to suggest it, but it's about time you stop being a door mat to your mother and your ex and anyone else who appears to have no qualms with walking all over you at will. Put your foot down and let them deal with the some of the pain and inconvenience they've been dropping on you. Let your voice be heard and you will feel better. They say this is the season for giving.... think of it as giving some back...

thanks nocie, that's exactly my thought on the matter and it's exactly what i'm doing, which is a new hat for me to wear, as the usual peacekeeper. thank you so much for your words

I would echo this, but as mothers, I think we always end up trying to do what's in the best interests of the kids. I agree, though, that your holiday shouldn't be filled with additional stress because of the insensitivity of other family members. I pray you can find a balance that will allow you and your kids to enjoy the season.

thanks everyone. just feeling quite knocked about this christmas...ex problems, usual mother problems, hectic work schedule and then on top of that, my brother who has the tumor on his brain got his bloods back a couple of days and things are getting worse again, vision is going etc. right in time for the 2 year anniversary of when it was first discovered.

i'm tired, grumpy, frustrated and ready to blow at any moment (that sounds rude) i just need a night of letting loose and unwinding. thank god it's friday

May wiser minds and kinder hearts always prevail.

Sometimes, it is in the best interest of the kids to teach them how not to be manipulated or used in a power play by setting boundaries that don't result in personal emotional distress. In this case, "in the best interest of the kids" sounds like a reasonable compromise, but the adult parties "pushing the envelope" rely on the kids as part of the guilt factor and manipulation when the plans are laid.... Just my opinion.

I believe in compromise but this is one with long term effects.
