http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highs...stian-school-wedlock-pregnancy-145601399.html HHMMM. sound stupid to me
"I'm just joshin" Somewhere in her defense, she should have used the "Mary Clause". Either say she had an immaculate conception, or remind them Joesph wasn't Mary's baby daddy. Just to ruffle their feathers.
It's a private school. They have the right to institute moral guidelines for their staff to abide by. If she signed a contract which she later violated, she deserves to be fired. Tolerance is not the issue. Living within the parameters of her contract is. Christian schools typically promote sex within marriage not without. An out-of-wedlock pregnancy would violate that standard and would likely send a mixed message to the students. "Do as we say, not as we do." But we all know that the best leadership is where one leads by example.
I hear you, but I love how this application of the "lead by example" ethos never extends to caring for the sick, casting out the moneychangers (banks, lenders), calling on people to eschew material values, etc. Ever notice that "Christians" always find plenty of justification for condemning others and reinforcing traditional racism, patriarchy and the like, but never feel as moved to push for the core of Christ's message?
What I observe is that the Christians that y'all speak of on here are vastly different from the Christians I have known and worshipped among for more than 30 years. The "god" your "Christians" know is not the same God I know and serve. Jus sayin.
I know there are some congregations that truly live and practice Christ's redemptive and transcendental message, but I don't think you can deny that the vast majority of what passes as the 'Christian' or 'evangelical' community as it's commonly represented in this country, is largely southern(and to a lesser extent western), rural/suburban, white reactionaries who essentially look for doctrinal/scriptural justification for their previously held views and then selectively expound upon them on that basis.
for some reason when I see this title on the front page, I keep seeing "teacher fired for getting pussy". Very weirdy.
Co-sign:smt023 For some odd reason, I initially see the same thing.... It's like that PMP in another thread.... my mind automatically adds that I (PIMP)....lol
So basically we all have dirty minds. Like when a doc shows us pics of flowery-shaped drawings asking for the first thing we see, we see "vaginas", "penises", breastesses"
I think the school is full of pious b.s. for firing her under her particular circumstances. She was engaged to be married and the relationship went bad... Shit happens... Hiding behind their standards and creeds to protect the children sounds very hypocritical in this case... I guess if she were openly lesbian, she wouldn't have even been considered... Fringes on sexual bias IMO.
It would be ironic that if she had chosen to have an abortion, she wouldn't have been in the situation and still have a job (that is unless she has granted them access to medical records) *Disclaimer:- not saying she should have done that; just looking at the situation
Yes, it would be incredibly bizarre for a teacher to get fired due to out-of-wedlock pregnancy, but I'm not surprised one bit that it happened at a Christian school. They have principles that must be upheld, you know?
How very unChrist like of them to fire a woman who did not getan aborti.on and is trying to support herself. Douchebags
I have a friend who is a teacher and she worked for one year, at a private Catholic grade school. The things that were in her contract were pretty unreal. She quit after one year. She said school wasn't a fit with her but they do put this in your contract and you know up front. Even though it does suck.
