"The conservative magazine National Review has fired John Derbyshire, a prominent columnist who provoked outrage Friday with a column published in the webzine Taki's Magazine, which warned white people to avoid "large concentrations of blacks," among other nuggets of racially tinged advice.

Derbyshire has a history of controversy when it comes to race — he even proclaimed himself a racist, though a "tolerant" one, in a 2003 interview — but he had managed to avoid any real firestorms. His latest piece, though, proved to be a step too far. Written in response to articles about the "talk" black parents were having with their children about the dangers of racism in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting, Derbyshire wrote about some of the offensive advice he had allegedly given his own children. Just a few of the examples:

(10a) Avoid concentrations of blacks not all known to you personally.
(10b) Stay out of heavily black neighborhoods.

(10c) If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date (neglect of that one got me the closest I have ever gotten to death by gunshot).

(10d) Do not attend events likely to draw a lot of blacks.

(10e) If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible."

I hate to say this but I agree with this. Its fucking sad but if I'm with my family and the number of black people is more than I like I'm out

 

I stay away from groups of people I don't know in general but the places he listed like Amusement Parks and beaches are especially crazy. Look up Orchard Beach in the Bronx.

Shit is ALWAYS popping off at those places and the areas are almost totally black and hispanic. Granted they are black and hispanics but that's what happens.
Unfortunately we don't have neighborhoods of upwardly moving blacks except for the gentrified parts of Harlem and maybe some parts of BK like Williamsburg but unfortunately when I see more than 20 or more of us gathered shit pops off. Unless its maybe a church event or a child's birthday party.
Big sporting events between areas like Yonkers and Mt.Vernon people get shot.
Big house parties people get shot.
All black clubs people get shot.
Like I said its sad to say but I've seen it and experienced it.
Outside of college and even that's subjective I don't trust clusters of our people below a certain age. The 40 and over crowd is cool with me too.

I always thought it was the other way around. My parents warned me on the regular. In fact the white kids' parents in my area were very welcoming but looking back its probably because I went to a small school.
All the lets hold hands race doesn't matter is usually something I hear from liberal progressive thinking white folks.

 

He does speak some truth. Most dangerous areas in the States are heavily populated by African Americans (sad but true)

However he should of known better to not write that politically incorrect shit. Its his own fault.

 

You probably should take Colorado off your list unless you are suggesting a mountain town or rural area. Denver and burbs has 9.9 percent makeup as black. It may be too many at once for tdk to handle. I have been to activities where I was one of the few white people there. Nothing happened to me obviously.

Wow, I had no clue. I guess I better move then after spending 20 years in my 'hood.

I guess no more block parties for me to attend then. I better refuse to join my friends at their family Reunion picnics in the park, or barbeque get togethers. Attending and enjoying a lovely outdoor Jazz concert with strangers I don't know? - that stops right now!

The Great Black Music Festival? The Annual Greek picnic? The Odunde Festival? Going to run to the suburbs on those days from now on, so I can stick my thumb in my mouth while shaking under the covers.

I Know the level of violence has risen recently, but just to speak from my own experience when I lived on the South side of Chi for some months in the 90's, I honestly didn't feel unsafe. Now I don't know if it was because I felt loved, secure and protected by the BP I was staying with, but the times I ventured out on my own both day and night, I was never bothered. (Only once and it was a drive-by racial insult which didn't register due to my naivety).

Similarity, you could venture in a white hood area and not be bothered..however maybe the white author might be.

 

Agree 100%. Many victims are strangers to the perpetrator. I know from several personal experiences. And I am just one person - thousands can attest.

 

I think it's safe to say that unless you know the area and the inhabitants you should avoid any grimy situation, whether black, brown, white or yellow. I don't go into the back alleys in Chinatown, either. But it doesn't have anything to do with race, just a quick assessment of the odds (real, not the imagined, inflated fears) of me ending up on a slab in the morgue.

 

This. Why some people insist on making all black low income areas the center and birth place of all crimes and criminal activities is beyond me. Criminal minded individuals can be found in every walk of life. Money and status does not make one a better or a more moral person just as coming from an impoverished background does not automatically make one destined to be a criminal or scourge of humanity.

I personally knew/know or know of hardworking Black people either killed or injured by people they didn't know, doing nothing wrong but going about their daily life. Plenty victims of crime weren't, to quote you: "Drug deal gone bad. You stole from me so now I got to kill you. You're brother beat up mine so now we're coming back to shoot you. " You can't be serious?!

Maybe you should cut back on the O/T listening to jail-house sob stories and get out more.
