I was never mugged, nor even gotten hurt in the 'hood. I have friends there whom I know and many of them are trying to get the hell out of there. Some do drugs, and it's only "temporary", but overall, the ones I've been around, they are in college, getting an education and trying to better themselves.

Maybe you need read to the statements carefully first before jumping on someone. I never generalize to the point where I accuse ALL people in that particular category, especially when my mother came out of the 'hood and bettered herself.

Yeah my mom came from the hood and bettered herself as well but majority of my family is still in the hood. My cousin was just sentenced to 8 years for a home break in where he was just the driver, he was waiting for his acceptance letter to college and let his boys get him in some ish. Yeah my cuzo is what you call a thug but deep down that's not the life he wants to live.

 

I don't see how any of this changes the circumstances of what took place.

What is there here exactly to explain that is being missed.

The video speaks clearly for the sickening elements involved.

Laying claim that others do it, having something against the hood and someone is a mark is mere deflection of this disgusting filth on video.

I have a cousin that was sentenced to jail for slinging dope and he recently came off of parole.

I grew up in the hood so I will speak on that shit 24/7/365, been robbed, seen a lot of bullshit, dudes carrying guns, shot, etc.

So I know exactly how it operates. There is no justification for this behavior in that video.

Where are the values in those young people in that clip.

 

Its a simple logic, "do unto others as you want others to do unto you"

How can anyone respect and think kindly of individuals who behave like that.

I would never think about doing that to another human being and neither would others I know, so what is it about those clowns in the video that makes them incapable of not behaving that way.

Dweb, not sure if I am I reading it right?..it seems that in one sentence you admonish mis-categorizations of the hood...and then in the next sentence imply that BBW would be a mark in the hood. Isn't that making a similar judgment call you decried about?

What's being missed is the fact that the people in the video look like college kids acting out more so than what some here call thugs or hoodlums.

The actions by the people in this video I don't condone at all in fact I think its bullshit and had I been on the street when this happened I would've given them a beat down they wouldn't forget. Ohh yeah id make sure ol boy got his phone and property back.

Don't mistake my disgusted feeling towards you and Mr Wise for your choice of wording to describe the people in the video. To me it seems there is some underlying hate for people from the hood.

My original critique about the video was they look like college kids and that was that, I didn't feel the need to let the actions in this video to get my blood pressure up and rant about how they are uncivilized thugs.

 

No question those thugs would be arrested and put in jail for a long time not j ust for that crime but having someone taping the deed. When a fellow thug has a cam they just self snitched themselves. A lot of stupid people are in jail because of it since to them there is no such thing as common sense.

 

Honestly, the thug mentality isn't exclusive to those from a low income neighborhood. Those traits exists everywhere. It's all about their attitudes and how they carry themselves. That's the problem. It doesn't matter if they are college students or not. A thug is a thug and that sort of attitude is unacceptable.

 

That is the thing about accomplice crime..you get hit with the same accountability for whatever happens with your partners. Its not fair always, and your cousin, knowing he had other aspirations, its sad to think of the fork he hit.
I will say that there are A LOT of women in jail because they committed crimes for their men (or got caught up). Not excusing it or your cousin's behavior in the least.. I'm just noting how often this is the unfortunate outcome of a chosen behavior.

I purposely avoided being politically correct in my description of them. I could have sugar coated the response but I chose not to. That level of behavior in the video speaks for itself.

As far as hating people from the hood, I have stated time and time again that is where I grew up, Crown Heights, Brooklyn. I am well aware of the folks that live there. They are not all the same.

I just get the feeling you are attempting to mitigate what is clear as the light of day in that video, a robbery and unjustified, wanton attack on an innocent person who just happen to stumble across these creeps.

Even if they are college kids as you presume it doesn't change the behaviors of those involved and that is at the heart of the issue.

To me spouting dumb shit on the streets is not an exercise of hate. It just makes you look uneducated and intolerable. The difference with Black Israelites and the BPs is there isn't a deep history of violence. There isn't a deep history of violence on the part of blacks against whites in this country. Maybe angry hate speech but no limiting of access in terms of jobs and good housing and definitely not blatant acts of violence sanctioned by local and federal government.
If there is I haven't seen any of evidence of it.
