lol that looks like frank shamrock

and those strikes seem to amuse him

would be nice to see more variation of styles in UFC...but when u got money and careers on the line..i guess it forces you to stick with what works...

you've never seen as many round house kicks until that Barbosa guy clocked someone with one.

of a sudden 'hey that works!'

late edit - remember kids, sometimes technique is more suitable to pulling out of a submission, than using strikes or strength

    ;)

Yep, that is ol' Frank-Frank and Bas Rutten lol

It's ironic; it's slowly becoming one mixed style: muay thai, bjj, boxing and wrestling. They are effective though

Maybe Anderson will use his capoeira again before Chael takes his ass down :D

    well yeah

as much as i like to see the current stuff..i do miss when people would really represent a single art. Once BJJ came in, that changed the game. Now you had to learn high level submission fighting, to go along with your other art.

karate was good until you started getting rolled on the ground by someone like Royce Gracie. It really takes a lot of time and effort to become a great ground fighter. You just cant do the shit for a week and think you're going to have enough 'anti-jiu jitsu' against a blue belt...let alone a master like him.

    It evolved

Karate is still good with some who has great hips/base and has a black belt in BJJ-Machida

but that coincides with your first point

    yeah really

    machida's not stupid

    same with Anderson

both good strikers and BJJ black belts..although they rarely use it in fights, they still know enough to defend against the most seasoned grapple pimp

That BJJ knowledge is the only reason why Anderson is still champ right now, and will probably be the main reason he remains champ, if he is victorious

Yeah using the heel of your palm. Its affective and again if your smashing brick I'd imagine bones aint shit.
GSP got his start in my style Oyama Karate so I definitely love watching him fight.

    Oh, ok

yeah, the heel(s) of your hands, feet are pretty damn tough-better than breaking your hand, hurting your shin

but smashing a brick and competing against a live, moving opponent...don't know if it's applicable tbf

    basically

ur damned if u do, damned if u dont

if u go to the ground, he can tap u out

if u stand up, he can knock you out with one punch

    lol

if he had no bjj, people would be taking him to the canvas all day

i loved chael sonnen tho..he wasnt afraid to wrestle with a mothafucka

im really rooting for this fight

Watching Silva run through people isnt worth pay per view money at all

Sonnen talks a lot of shit and really forgoes the whole zen attitude, but watching him shoot for a double and lift guys off their feet is very entertaining:smt045
