I always had the understanding that neighborhood watch members were instructed to report any suspicious activity and they could pursue someone in their vehicle, but not approach them. That was to be left up to the police. So Zimmerman had no business leaving his vehicle. He could follow Trayvon to keep him in sight and give the authorities information on his actions, but nothing else. Maybe that's changed or I don't have the proper understanding.
Goodlove is desperate to broaden this thing to include more than Zimmerman.......Even though Zimmerman who is Hispanic acted by him self, Our beloved grad student wants to make it class action enough to also indite white conservatives, and gun owners.......
I hear fucken Z man is not even part of the neighborhood watch team, in fact they are saying there is no watchman group in that gated community, lol. Can someone verify this. If that is the case, then fat fuck dough boy of Judge's son took up on himself to pack heat and patrol that neighborhood. Talk about overzelaous vigilante with John Wayne complex.
What's strangely curious? In the 911 call, he never identifies himself as a NHWC. He calls and his first line is:"Hi, yeah there have been a lot of recently burglaries in my neighborhood.." No mention of his "status'. Furthermore, he gave his name, his cell number, his home address (which he reluctantly mumbled his address b/c he said he was "scared Trayvon (the bogeyman) might hear it and come find him later")... yet still no NHWC identification. Finally, even after he began his pursuit of Trayvon and was instructed not to, he still did not identify his NHWC status to explain or justify his inclination to pursue. As far as the dispatcher knew, he was speaking only to a concerned resident observer. It's strangely odd and I feel his withholding his status ties to his prior incessant 911 calls in which he's probably been flagged a blowhard wanna-be: priority zero...And he wanted a quick response.
Brethren, We live in a world where I need to own 2 Bibles, 2 rifles and a shotgun to feel safe.......the war between the haves and the have-nots is fast approaching..........the intruder will tell you straight to your face..... "Amo get mine"
Yeah. It's been covered quite a few time in this thread when the news broke last week. He is not registered to any of the 22,000 NHW programs.
The NRA donated $72,000 each to the re-election campaigns of 43 Florida legislators to get this 'Stand Your Ground' law passed in the state. It's simply not accurate to say the NRA had no role in this. The NRA has been involved in a nationwide, state-by-state strategy to get much broader Castle laws passed. WTF is up with the NRA's gun fetish and thinking that EVERYONE should be allowed to be their own judge/jury/executioner??
The NRA is a lobbying firm for the gun manufacturing industry. They don't give a shit about public safety. They lobby for laws that will facilitate the purchase of as many guns as possible.
Still no role in "this" because THIS isn't a a SYG case. So what do you care if the NRA donated. What's 72gs, that's not much. They get donations from other places too. Let me ask you...if you're out one night alone and some dude comes up on you and beats you in the face and is trying to strangle you and you have your piece and you shoot him...all race ish aside...do you think you should be arrested and charged for that? Yes or no?
Zimmerman isn't in jail now because of SYG. He claimed self-defense and the Sanford PD refused to pursue charges against him because under SYG they felt they had no probable cause. If there's no SYG law on the books in Florida, Zimmerman's in jail charged with manslaughter/2nd degree murder. Sorry, but the NRA is shady. Growing up every one of my uncles had a loaded gun somewhere in the house. Those guns were never shown to the kids and was ONLY in the house for a worst case scenario where there's a stranger breaking in. My uncles still fought verbally and cussed with their wives, but you NEVER thought this could become a deadly violent situation. The SYG law in Texas allows a next door neighbor to witness someone breaking into a house next to yours, you leave your OWN house to pursue the criminals and murder them as they're fleeing the scene. The penalty for breaking and entering isn't death. Lobbying to change criminal law to legalize murder is beyond the scope of an organization like the NRA. 'We don't shoot to kill, we shoot to live.' -NRA. GTFOH. You can't de-couple Trayvon's murder from SYG and the NRA.
This. "Stand Your Ground" is the legal basis for Zimmerman's continued freedom from prosecution. Even the sponsor of the original bill has acknowledged this and regrets the consequences of his bill, namely, a sharp upswing in killings ruled as 'justifiable homicides' since the bill's passage.
Something I read that is interesting. Don't think I saw it posted but the thread is so long and taken so many other twists....sorry if previously posted. Posted at 10:15 AM ET, 03/29/2012 George Zimmerman’s crumbling story, part 2: the mortician By Jonathan Capehart The killing of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman — the case where nothing makes sense, nothing — gained greater clarity in the last couple days. The story put forth by the Sanford Police Department (SPD) and by Zimmerman “friend” Joe Oliver is starting to crumble. The SPD video ABC News aired last night raised serious doubts about Zimmerman’s account of a life-and-death struggle. Then, Richard Kurtz, the funeral director of the mortuary that received Trayvon’s body, stepped forward last night on MSNBC’s “The Last Word” to knock another huge hole in Zimmerman’s story. The unarmed 17-year-old showed no signs of struggle. Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy According to Zimmerman, Trayvon clocked him in the face and felled him with one punch. Trayvon then jumped on top of him and then repeatedly banged Zimmerman’s head on the sidewalk. That’s what the police told Tracy Martin, Trayvon’s father. But when O’Donnell asked Kurtz if Trayvon’s body showed any signs that would support that version of events, Kurtz said, “I didn’t see anything to support that story.” We asked Martin and Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon’s mother, if they had a chance to see their son’s body before the burial. “We didn’t see the body until it got back to Fort Lauderdale and he was cleaned up and dressed up for the funeral,” Martin said. Given what Kurtz said last night, Trayvon didn’t require much preparation.
