Trayvon Martin's Murder

If you feel that not voicing the senseless murder of an innocent teen can't be mentioned in civilized company then I would have to guess you aren't in civilized company.

On the tape I hear the lady kept telling dispatch that she didn't want to go out there. I can't say that I blame her necessarily but if she had gone out I wonder if Zimmerman might have rethought his actions.

Much harder to get away with murder when there are eye witnesses..at least in zimmermans case.
But it looks like he might get away with it anyway so maybe it doesn't matter.

 

I agree that racism is not civilized, but my fear is that there's not opposition to it, just an opposition to breaking social mores regarding politeness. This situation is so frustrating. This could be my son, my friend's son, any of a multitude of good kids who deserve better than this.

 

Miami Heat put their hoods up to show support in Trayvon Martin case



...Before James tweeted the Heat team photo, James' teammate Dwyane Wade posted a photo of himself in a hoodie on his Facebook page. Wade told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel..that he thought the public outcry surrounding the Martin case presented a "great opportunity to use [the photo]," which was "a picture that I'd taken before," to show solidarity and "get the people to understand what we're in support of."

Even as Treyvon's death still brings a lump to my throat, tears to my eyes and fears that my son could be next, the public support and the spotlight now being placed on the circumstances surrounding his murder give me a sparkling hope that justice will be served.

I now have a profound respect for Dwyane , Lebron, and the Heat!

Has he not been arrested yet? I heard on the news that the killer has lawyered up and that his lawyer still believes he is in the area. If he leaves the country, we can still bring him back to face charges?

It seems like he (Zimmerman) is about to get off. I hope not. Mom says if he doesn't have to pay for what he did it will incite race riots as bad as the ones during the 60s.

 

Are they the only "celebs" that have spoken out at all. I haven't seen any others. What a strange silence.

 

Witness: Martin attacked Zimmerman

ORLANDO - A witness we haven't heard from before paints a much different picture than we've seen so far of what happened the night 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot and killed.

The night of that shooting, police say there was a witness who saw it all.

Our sister station, FOX 35 in Orlando, has spoken to that witness.

What Sanford Police investigators have in the folder, they put together on the killing of Trayvon Martin few know about.

The file now sits in the hands of the state attorney. Now that file is just weeks away from being opened to a grand jury.

It shows more now about why police believed that night that George Zimmerman shouldn't have gone to jail.

Zimmerman called 911 and told dispatchers he was following a teen. The dispatcher told Zimmerman not to.

And from that moment to the shooting, details are few.

But one man's testimony could be key for the police.

"The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: 'help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911," he said.

Trayvon Martin was in a hoodie; Zimmerman was in red.

The witness only wanted to be identified as "John," and didn't not want to be shown on camera.

His statements to police were instrumental, because police backed up Zimmerman's claims, saying those screams on the 911 call are those of Zimmerman.

"When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point," John said.

Zimmerman says the shooting was self defense. According to information released on the Sanford city website, Zimmerman said he was going back to his SUV when he was attacked by the teen.

Sanford police say Zimmerman was bloody in his face and head, and the back of his shirt was wet and had grass stains, indicating a struggle took place before the shooting.

Powerful indeed. Trayvon was a Miami native, and he died watching the NBA All-Stars. I imagine he'd have been THRILLED to have had his Miami Heat pay tribute to him. I really hope he's watching all this from heaven.

 

There is another eye witness, a young boy walking his dog who I think saw the shooting. He said he came upon the two struggling males who had become SEPARATED on the grass, both out of breath...

I don't know if Tray had already been shot and was dying at that point or if his death was instant. If Tray was still un-shot, it proves that Zimmerman was not in fear of his life with Tray on top of him at the point of the shooting.

even if zimmerman discharged his weapon in a struggle, he had no business pursuing the kid in the first place. He went looking for trouble and found it. Lawyers will eat that shit up all day. These witnesses tho...I don't know. If they're flaky, lawyers will chew them apart and say that zimmerman racially profiled his ass, and against police direction, pursued and murdered an unarmed kid.

if he was white..or looked like one of those ladies in the pics..all of this would not have happened. Win or lose, this case still brings attention to racial stigma/injustice.

The first line of the article I pasted said, "THE FAMOUS AND UNSUNG tweeted.."...I'm trusting that celebs are saying their piece, for sure...
Personally, I'm not counting how many or who, I just know that whatever anyone is doing, counts.

 

I can't believe the screams I heard in that 911 tape were those of an older, heavier man with a gun, as opposed to a 17 yr-old boy armed with Skittles and an iced tea. There may indeed have been a struggle, as Zimmerman seems to have sustained some injuries too. But who wouldn't turn around and fight someone who was pursuing you? I don't blame Trayvon for defending himself against a would be attacker. But unless it can proven beyond measure that it was Zimmerman pleading for help, I will never believe it. Surely, the testimony of Trayvon's girlfriend would prove otherwise.

As the evidence has been presented thus far, I have no sympathy for Zimmerman. To me, he had a pre-conceived idea as to who Trayvon was (as indicated by his comments to the dispatcher heard on the 911 tape) and he acted on those ideas, not on what he actually encountered in the person of Trayvon Martin that night.

I don't trust Fox News. Whoever gave it the name Faux News was a genius.
