While I don't like it at all, people did the same thing to Bush Jr.
Since the 2000's and the net people seem to have thrown out being respectful to other people. Sarah Palin had a TON of pics with her wearing bikinis and other outfits making her look like a slut (not her body of course). Good Ole Dick had a shitload of pics depicting him doing some not so respectful things to other men and women.

Like I said, I think the pic and the article is terrible and I am glad they took it down, but it is nothing new.

This is exactly what I was going to say. They go for what is your perceived weaknesses or areas where they can get the most rise. They want to take jabs and get news coverage. Politics is not a nice business.

The one thing I do think is super offensive is bringing the kids or family into the insults....ie the recent snit over Malia Obama going to Mexico and them saying he is a bad parent.

When I saw the picture, all I've gotten was a woodland fairy trying to get the Colonel to come back to life.

Still...it's a stupid picture and very distasteful.

I am all for freedom of speech.

If someone wants to place an article or photo on their website fine, but there is also a PRICE to pay for that free speech if someone is offended and strikes back with complains.

In this case, this woman lost her job.

I don't have a problem with people having a visceral reaction against a politician's policies, but no one is creating an atmosphere of violence around Bush's race or ethnicity. And, while I don't deny the far left's hatred toward Bush, I think that the level of vitriol is higher (and more widespread) toward Obama than it was around Bush.

Didn't the media go after the Bush twins, too?

The only grumblings I heard was that its all going to be on the TAXPAYER's dime. She and 14 friends. Plane-trip, accommodations, food, etc...that's going to be a lot of Secret Service doing huge O/T.
25 SSA are going, in fact.

And you know, with Obama asking Americans to make sacrifices...

The mainstream media are not only being very nice about this trip, the WH has asked them to scrub the story because it has no political reverence -

IDK, when the taxpayers pays for something this exorbitant, it has reverence.

If the Obamas ask that their be children be be protected from scrutiny by appealing to some higher standard, then why would they risk sending their 13-yr-old and 14 of her friends to go to Mexico and not say, FL?

STATE DEPARTMENTS warning for Americans TRAVELING TO Mexico:

Not to mention Fl could uses the tourists tax dollars instead of Mexico.

I don't think it matters where she goes....with her dad's station you are going to be sending just as many SS workers. Her dad's the prez. It's not really that much more expensive to go to Mexico than it is to go to California.....I know that. Meh.....not riled up over it.

And a lot of Americans are safely going to Mexico. There are lots of rules to follow to stay safe as there wasn't in years past. State Department warnings are just that.........be aware. They aren't edicts denying travel.

The State Department's travel warning notes that "millions of U.S. citizens safely visit Mexico each year" and that "the Mexican government makes a considerable effort to protect U.S. citizens and other visitors to major tourist destinations." Still, because of "Transnational Criminal Organizations" involved in drug trafficking and other criminal activity, "crime and violence are serious problems throughout the country."

However, there is no State Department warning in effect for the state of Oaxaca, where Malia is reportedly on a school trip.

Several news outlets on Monday published reports about Malia's school trip, but the stories were removed at the White House's request.

"From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest," Kristina Schake, communications director to First Lady Michelle Obama, said in a statement. "We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls."

How's she supposed to have a somewhat normal life if she can't even go with her schoolmates??

Those warnings pretty much apply to regular people traveling to Mexico. Not the children of the United States President who have Secret Service protection and who knows what other security at their disposal. Besides the only thing she was in danger of was an earthquake. Also when the Obama's do take vacations in US cities a lot of the time the cost of providing additional police for security, traffic jams whenever the President is traveling by car, etc a lot of times these cities wind up losing more than they take in. So I don't really see a problem with them vacationing outside the U.S. It's not like any of them are going to single handedly raise local revenue in the space of a few days.

How convenient the Warning is...for Mexico, but there is no warning for the place Mahalia is going to...in Mexico.

I wouldn't dream of sending my 13yr-old without me to Mexico - I don't care who is chaperoning her - let alone a Mexico as violent as it's recently become. I'm positive there are parent who did not let their children go.

Going to party in Mexico for Spring break is not "having a normal life".
Most 13-year-olds go to the seaside, or wherever. Why are we footing their huge bill?

By ELISABETH MALKIN, The New York Times /
MEXICO CITY -- After weighing the risks of traveling to Mexico, the parents of one American teenager decided to allow her to join a school trip to Oaxaca, where students volunteered at an orphanage, visited archaeological sites and sipped vanilla milkshakes on the honey-colored town plaza.

The fact that the parents were President Obama and the first lady, Michelle Obama, and that the teenager was their daughter Malia, thrilled Mexican tourism officials, who are trying to redefine the country's image as it has struggled with drug violence.

"It's a compliment that the daughter of President Obama and her friends have decided to live the experience of Oaxaca," said José Zorrilla, the state secretary for tourism and economic development, slipping into promotion mode.

Each updated travel advisory from the United States State Department is painted as an affront here. Especially galling to Mexicans was the spring break warning issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety suggesting that Texans avoid Mexico altogether.

Plenty of Americans are ignoring the government warnings. Last year, Mexico reported a record year for foreign visitors, 22.67 million, and most of them were American.

Malia, 13, attends Sidwell Friends School in Washington, which has been organizing trips to Oaxaca for years, said Ellis Turner, the associate head of school, who pointed out that there was no State Department travel warning for Oaxaca.

Although the White House asked English-language media to remove articles about the visit from their Web sites this week, the visit was never a secret in Mexico. "The reality is that Oaxaca isn't that big and it isn't that easy to hide 10 girls and that security," said Mr. Zorrilla, the tourism official.

On Monday, the group sat down for lunch at Terranova, a family restaurant behind the porticos lining Oaxaca's central plaza. The headwaiter, José Victoria, said they ordered bottles of water, vanilla milkshakes, pizza and spaghetti. Malia opted for cheese quesadillas, which he said she ordered in Spanish.

Along with their work at the orphanage, which Mr. Turner did not identify, the teenagers trooped through all the tourist spots in Oaxaca, a handsome colonial city set in a blue-green valley steeped in pre-Columbian culture. They toured Zapotec archaeological sites and visited nearby villages famous for producing black pottery and fantastical wood carvings called alebrijes.

But what the group is most likely to take back may not be a souvenir but the memory of a strong earthquake that prompted the White House to lift its news blackout, acknowledge Malia's trip and assure everybody that she was safe.

That's the same article I quoted to Jase.

Whats wrong with saying no to Malia - it's ok to do so, she's just 13. She'' live. She'll still get to live a normal life, no worries.

Service oriented? How so..because they stopped by an orphanage. It was a vacation/trip...they went sight-seeing, went to the beach, enjoyed the local facilities, etc. Like how a french class might go to France. It was not a service-orientated volunteer trip like a Peace Corp assignment.
Again, the cost of it all. At least if we are going to shell all that out...we have a beautiful America....
the Grand Canyon...lovely to visit. Incredible tourism would generate. Buy American, Mr. President.

IMO, all of this latest BS is designed to deflect attacks on Limburger and the main players of name calling on the Reich or was that Right?....

After the heat Limburger sweated over the "Slut" fiasco, the "Right" is serving up sacrificial "lambs" while keeping the main toilet seats in place... In hopes that they can shut down the "Left" by taking superficial cuts, claiming to have "cleansed" their legions of the most "radical" mouth pieces and demanding that the Left do the same....

But the "hate/misinformation" will continue and for those that were "terminated" in the realm of LaLaland, expect to see "Ghost Writer" spit the same mis-informated hateful sh*t....
