Chuck has him beat in that department, but Bruce's philosophy is up there with Kano and all the other greats

Truth be told I don't buy it. Bruce had decades more experience and he fought to survive in Hong Kong not for trophies.

Norris fought for sport, which in turn is more for entertainment purposes, but not practical in real world situations. Really, martial arts is a philosophy within itself and that's one thing a lot of Westerners often forget. And Bruce Lee applied that philosophy in his fighting style and he also was a martial arts instructor, so he wasn't just some flashy person on stage.

I guess I'm arguing that Lee took a more traditional approach based on East Asian philosophy.

Actually Lee hated the traditional approach that's why he came up with Jeet Kun Do. If you ever have a chance you should read the Tao Of Jeet Kun Do. He goes into more detail there but he had more whatever works for you approach to the martial arts where as tradition had a lot more restrictive rules.

I'll definitely bookmark that as one of my books to read. Thanks for the info.

What you guys are saying is right. Guys rather hide behind guns than put their fists up and fight. It also reminds me of these two scenes in Friday. John Witherspoon's character Willie Jones' words are so true and are words to definetely live by:
