The really disturbing and sad thing is that this particular kid appeared to be a clean-cut, success-bound, athletic youngster from a good home. When they found his body he had in his hand a box of skittles and can of icetea....This was not a robbing, drug selling thug.....It was a bad case of mistaken justice of a youngster whose age group, race and profile proceeded him.....The heavy-set Hispanic shooter and property owner had a premeditated mindset for that profile of an intruder and did not take time to discern. Now Goodlove, you are unfairly impugning...... there is no evidence that this guy was a GOP gun carrying NRA member......the guy look like a big gun-ho Hispanic who might have had his own personal beef with blacks. The reason why they have been so slow to make an arrest is because the castle law is now active in Florida to safeguard against so many black youngmen perpetrating violent home invasion crimes against home owners.....When we are so quick to cry racism, we have to temper that impulse with the reality that many our younger brothers are out there raising hell with all kinds of crimes that violate people......
Totally agree. :smt023 The laws (most anyway) are fine, its the system and the "good ole boy" mentality that is fucked up!
Arch that's pure bullshit. So what if other black youths do crimes. The crime should be judged by its individual merrit. This whole thing comes down to one thing. He was told not to leave his car end of story. All events that happened after that are completely on him. Very much like the home invasion laws here. You aren't allowed to shoot someone that's running away since them leaving takes you out of immediate danger. The same logic applies here. That piece of shit wouldn't have had to defend himself had he obeyed and sat his fat ass in that car. It doesn't get any more open and shut than this.
Their top cop has addressed it by saying..."following someone is not breaking any laws". This is why legally IN FLORIDA, it's so damn hard to get this guy without his lawyer springing him in a heartbeat. Even for discharging in a public place - it would be considered reasonable under the Castle Law (as Archman referred to it, I didn't know it's name), so it wouldn't stand in court. I feel confident the DA is slowly building a case against him but it's become so high profile, they have to make sure all their t's are crossed so his lawyer won't disseminate the charges. Remember, the top cop said the police took Zimmerman at his word when he told them that night he had no police record. Legally, sure he doesn't, but technically, he did - and it was against a boy in blue. I'm telling you I feel they don't want to help this asshole anymore and are now covering their own asses before they go after Zimmerman.
I hear you and that all makes sense. But logically I don't get why he hasn't been arrested for menacing at least or taken into custody till an investigation is conducted. Another major issue with this case is that had the suspect been black regardless of the victim they'd be in jail without any consideration. The heartbreaking thing about this case is that we see another example of black people in this case a young black male being treated like garbage. We aren't equal citizens under the law. If the victim had been white we would not be seeing this bs game of wait and see. By the way the Castle Law was intended for home invasion perpetrators not for people you think shouldn't be in" your" neighborhood. This thing is all kinds of shades of wrong. Legally it makes no sense and morally this is down right disgusting. If our children aren't even safe....
I hear you on this. Did you sign the petition his mother had started? I posted the link earlier. Pass it along, FB it too, if you can. The Castle law extends beyond your home, I think. I know in Philly, a few years ago, it was only in your home until the new Gov extended it to outside your home. That's why a mother whose son was being robbed in her apartment's stairwell grabbed her gun and left her apartment and shot and killed the perp. She was not arrested. Here's the insane story... http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news...n-Trying-to-Rob-Her-Son-Police-136295133.html I show you this only to show you how the law is applied in cases of perceived threat. (of course we know Zimmerman is lying but remember he had a bloody nose and bloody gash to the back of his head which he convinced them was justified to defend from bodily injury.) It doesn't make it less sickening though, but in the pistol packing momma case, I was glad she wasn't arrested (though I'm sure the dead perp's family is furious).
Some more replies..well noted.. A Yahoo! User • Baton Rouge, Louisiana • 4 hrs ago Report Abuse This poor kid must have thought that he was going to be robbed or abducted by zimmerman. I know if I were walking down the street, minding my business, and a large man in a car was following me, it would scare me. It breaks my heart what happened to this poor kid. I don't care that zimmerman's family says he not a racist, the tapes say different. Zimmerman didn't know Trayvon but referred to him as a a-hole that always gets away. He had already formed an opinion about Trayvon. Zimmerman needs to be arrested and tried for murder. Tired_of_the_Nonsense • 8 hrs ago Report Abuse Zimmerman needs to be behind bars for murder. He confronts an unarmed man in the night between houses. He is NOT law enforcement and had absolutely no authority TO DO ANYTHING. He might qualify as a cop for this pathetic excuse of a police dept in Sanford, but in reality, that entire police dept... More Peter • 4 hrs ago Report Abuse Unbelievable. Stalkers, pedophiles, and kidnappers - you have the right to approach a kid on a public street and demand they follow your orders. If they attempt to protect themselves or flee, you can then shoot them. bigwhoop • Denver, Colorado • 8 hrs ago Report Abuse What's scarier is when losers like him become cops.
I appreciate you posting that link. So happy she did that. You hate toot for her but the circumstances were entirely different. One could argue the entire apt building and the actual apt as a dwelling which is where the Castle part comes in but even so she went out to stop the commission of a crime and to protect her child. Nothing was happening to warrant Zimmerman following and harassing that child. He nor his loved ones were in any kind of danger. There was no incident of immediacy that warranted the situation. And again this is the only time in my life where I've heard of a perpetrator being taken at his word before they gathered and investigated evidence. What's to stop him from fleeing? They didn't even arrest him and seize his passport.
I feel like flying out to Florida and putting a bullet in Zimmerman. That piece of shit deserves the Death Penalty.
I'm sure (and I hate to say this because two wrongs don't make a right)..if this Zimmerman isn't punished or punished to fit the crime..his days will be numbered. Not that that makes it all better. But you can't pull such a heinous crime against a child and get away with it. And not when it's so high profile. Zimmerman may thing he's big bad wolf but there is someone out there bigger and badder than him. He should seriously hope he ends up in prison. It might afford him some protection for a while.
If only! I hate her with a passion. But alas there were threat on her life, also...and she's been sheltered and protected by assholes and thus still alive, making happy videos, buying a puppy... If he is never brought to justice (think OJ and Natalie Holloway's killer, Joran van der Sloot, who were never held accountable for the murders they committed against their female victims), hopefully there will be some form of universal lawful justice committed upon him, whether it's total banishment from the populous aka Casey, or he fucks up like OJ did and Joran did (who tragically killed again).
It's only a matter of time. I know these douche bogs (to borrow a phrase from my daughter) think they got away with murder. And to us lowly humans it may seem like they did. But we can't see what hell they are in. Anthony has many, many, years to live with what she did. You CANNOT do something so against the natural flow of life and not pay for it in some way. I seriously doubt that she doesn't have night terrors. Or that she can actually look in the mirror and feel good about who she is as a person.
This is evidence for alinoa and not against. She was convicted on several charges. The issue of murder of her kid was due to you had no idea who killed the kid. The media interferred and turned it to circus. I hate nancy grace but I love to see when she is wrong. Especially about the chloroform.
This exactly. Bring your A game when in the spotlight. Like the dude that walked into a village shot up and killed over 10 people and was not arrested for a while. People are sitting there building cases.
http://www.miamiherald.co...-of-justice-fbi-and.html U.S. Department of Justice, FBI and FDLE to probe Trayvon Martin killing. Mounting pressure in Trayvon Martin case succeeds in getting a federal probe. By Frances Robles The U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and the FBI will step in to investigate the killing of Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin, the U.S. Department of Justice announced late Monday. The announcement coincided with a statement from Florida Gov. Rick Scott asking the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to offer “appropriate resources” in the case. The federal and state agencies are intervening in what attorneys call a botched investigation into the killing of the Michael Krop Senior High School student, who was killed Feb. 26 in Sanford, a town of 55,000 just north of Orlando. The teen, on suspension from school, was staying at his father’s girlfriend’s house when he stepped out to 7-Eleven to buy candy and iced tea. A neighborhood watch volunteer with a long history of calling in everything from open garage doors to “suspicious characters” called police to say he spotted someone who looked drugged, was walking too slowly in the rain, and appeared to be looking at people’s houses. Zimmerman sounded alarmed, because the stranger had his hand in his waistband and had something in his other hand. The unarmed teen carried Skittles and Arizona iced tea. Volunteer George Zimmerman, 28, told police he had stepped out of his truck to check the name of the street he was on when Trayvon jumped him from behind and attacked him, police said. He said he feared for his life and fired a semiautomatic handgun he was licensed to carry, because he feared for his life. “The department will conduct a thorough and independent review of all of the evidence and take appropriate action at the conclusion of the investigation,” the Department said in a statement. “The department also is providing assistance to and cooperating with the state officials in their investigation into the incident. With all federal civil rights crimes, the government must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a person acted intentionally and with the specific intent to do something which the law forbids – the highest level of intent in criminal law. “Negligence, recklessness, mistakes and accidents are not prosecutable under the federal criminal civil rights laws.” From the start, Trayvon’s family accused Sanford Police of molding the investigation to fit Zimmerman’s account. Several witnesses said they heard cries that sounded like a boy wailing -- howling silenced by the crack of gunfire -- and were shocked to hear the police later portray the cries as Zimmerman’s. One witness said police ignored her repeated phone calls. The police chief was accused of telling lies big and small in ways that shielded Zimmerman. The family hired attorneys who helped devise a national campaign to demand a federal investigation. Members of Congress and prominent black clergy joined the chorus for a federal probe. Police Chief Bill Lee told The Miami Herald last week that he’s comfortable that his investigators were fair and thorough. “I can say very confidently we would welcome any outside entity that wants to come look at what we did,” Lee said last week. “They are welcome to come here and look at it. We have not done anything but conduct a fair and complete investigation.” He dismissed accusations of irregularities and insisted that investigators found no probable cause to arrest Zimmerman, because there was no evidence to disprove his version of events. The U.S. Community Relations Service will be in Sanford this week to meet with civil rights leaders, community leaders, and local law enforcement to address tension in the community, the Department of Justice announcement said
Ummm what happened to negligent homicide, reckless endangerment, and manslaughter which is accidental death? I really wish more of the legal minded members would weigh in on this. Sounds like they are expecting to lose
