Bookie, I can understand, how you feel. To get older (at least when you arrive at the age of 40), many things change and body and weight are the smallest changes.
The bigger problem are the hormones, slowly it makes you depressing, more and more.
The better thing is that you see a lot of topics much more relaxed. When I was fighting for something in my 30s, I just hike my shoulders, today.
If you feel too old, or people make you feel old, then it's because you are with the wrong people / or forum. You know, it's the right of everybody not to feel attracted to this or that, but to attack, insult and degrade older women is just immature and without any level.

That's the fascination on here. To talk with people from different continents and menatlities, but a shadow (silly discussions) is always present on here, what makes it many times pretty nervy.

Bookie, as one of the older men on this forum, I can somewhat understand what you're saying and how you feel. If you need to take a break, take a break, but you don't have to drop out entirely. Deal with the issues in your life that are causing you distress and grief... Make changes where you feel changes are needed but never lose your voice...

Aging is a fact of life... the alternative???? Don't even need to go there....

Not all of us are in our 20's or 30's and no single opinion may represent what I think or what I feel. I choose to ignore the silliest comments, add mine when I feel I have something to bring to or add to a conversation...

    I hope you reconsider....

I absolutely learned quite a bit about the world and myself over the years on this forum, but lately, I haven't felt like there's anything else to learn. It just hasn't been that kind of environment on here...the environment of people sharing their experiences, etc. Lately it's just been a lot of "this is my opinion and it's the only one that matters" type of mentality on here. Those types of attitudes don't exactly foster a mutual exchange of ideas and experiences.

Awww....TDK, we'll always have Facebook! But like I said, I won't probably ever truly leave this place.

    Very, very true. LOL.

There are really only a few guys on here that pretty much tell any woman over the age of 25 that she should put herself out to pasture, but they're pretty vocal about it and it's more annoying than anything else.

And no one in my life is making me feel old on purpose. LOL. It's more like I looked around and realized that everyone (excluding my family) are younger than me, some by quite a bit. It's, again, getting annoying.

I've been doing a good job of ignoring the silly comments, but when it becomes nothing BUT those types of comments, it can drain a person. I've been staying away from any threads that might end up in a debate, because I'm so tired of reading the same arguments over and over. Nothing gets solved, but a lot of insults are thrown around.

I had something pretty bad happen to me at the end of January, and it really put a lot of things into focus for me about my life and how I'm living it.

It made me take a step back from my social activities. I've had to re-evaluate my priorities and how I conduct myself around other people. And part of what I've been thinking about, etc, comes back to the value I'm not feeling I'm getting anymore from being on here. Nor on any online site, really.

Bookie I enjoy your posts. You may feel you are in a mode where you aren't learning from others but the flipside is true. You are interesting and make lots of good arguments. Love your take on movies and such.

    Which thread is that? :p

Seriously, I'm sorry that you had something bad happen to you - I'm sure it wasn't fun when it was happening. But then again, it's great that it helped you shift your priorities and focus on what's important in life. What seemed like a bad thing then could be a blessing in disguise if it takes your life in a new and better direction.

Thanks, Jordan! I definitely couldn't totally leave this place. There are still quite a few people on here whose posts I always enjoy reading and you are one those people.

It most definitely was a wake-up call. :smt023

Very thoughtful post! This place, especially, should be a place of tolerance

I can remember the time, when you logged into wwbm to ask the people on the forum for advice and you got serious and helpful answers. But this time is over, unfortunatly. Many of these posters of " the old times" are quiet today or left, and new ones aren't interested to get into trouble or to be called this or that..

Went to go get a newspaper this morning & saw all the college kids getting ready to head for spring break. Since I'm 32 & I'm too old for spring break.

It was pouring down rain all of this morning and most of the afternoon. Then it stops and looks like it's going to be a bright sunny spring afternoon.....for all of 30 minutes. Now it's a straight mini-hailstorm going on outside. Crazy Washington state weather...

It sounds as bad as Texas weather. One day it's 70 degrees & the next it's 40. It's been gloomy & rainy all day here too, & I want a day off when it's actually sunny for a change. All this rain has my yard looking like a jungle...mostly weeds of course since the grass died during the drought.

Yeah I know. Damn do I miss the days off actually having time off. If I don't have work I have school and if I don't have school I have work. Sometimes I think being a teacher would be the way to go lol
