Atheist Billboard Offends Some African-Americans

It almost sounds like you are in fear of your life. But that stalker of yours...you're a big boy. You can handle this.

 

Positive imagery, I can agree with. But here's what you are overlooking: The billboard is telling African-Americans a reminder that the very thing they worship and believe comes from the slave trade. And the message? Want to be free, then educate yourselves since there's more to life than surrounding yourself to a slave-driven faith.

That's the overall concept of the billboard: "Be free from the chains of slavery."

 

Ads require some shock value to get a point across, right? Especially when dealing with those who are deeply religious and the information will go in one and out the other, no. There's no other way. At least one that would get their point across to make blacks think for a minute.

Better yet, here's an idea...ask yourself this...

What good has it done for black Americans today?

 

No need to get mad at the messenger, nor the message. Get at the very people who shove a crucifix dildo inside themselves to reassure that they have a purpose in their existence.

 

For all I know, there could have been some black atheists who helped with that billboard. And quite frankly, I would have done the same thing. Got a problem with that, then don't get mad at me for delivering a reality many of you choose to ignore.

Secondly, getting overly sensitive because Christianity and religion as a whole has promoted suppression and control of people. How does a lack in a belief reinforces control? Again, those people you've mentioned, they're more concerned with Christianity being attacked and in return black people who believe in it. Sure, you recognize the names, but you sure as hell don't know their thinking patterns. That's a no-brainer.

Thank you for that reminder! If there's greater interests in the sciences rather than pushing for a more theological thought process, then intellectually speaking (and to a lesser degree financially) we could see growth within black communities as a whole. I would rather have more Dr. Neil deGrasse Tysons around than another run in the mill pastor preaching sweet nothings and doing nothing except helping himself to the collection plate.
