Alistair Overeem finally get his title shot in the UFC against the very dangerous Junior Dos Santos. Stylistically, it is a very interesting match up, and it should be an excellent fight
overeem simply has more tools at his disposal you got two big guys with serious stand-up ability, but Overeem gets the edge simply because he's so used to training both hands and feet with his dutch kickboxing background. Remember, Overeem has serious stopping-power with his low kicks, as evidenced in his Lessnar fight. Dos Santos on the other hand, is simply a puncher with excellent boxing potential. Lessnar's wrestling was stronger than either one of them, yet it was nullified by Overeem. So, if Dos Santos tries to take the fight to the ground (i doubt Overeem will initiate that), he's going to be in for a rude awakening. I would like to see both fighter's reach tho. If Dos Santos has the reach advantage with his hands, that may be enough to grant him the fabled 'punchers chance' there's a reason you see MMA schools that emphasize muay thai/kickboxing, along with grappling, and not just boxing/grappling.
He has all the the skills, certainly; he's definitely a more versatile striker than the boxing heavy Dos Santos. The only reason I doubt is because I don't trust his chin, wouldn't be surprised if JDS catches and finishes him. Granted, this isn't the same Overeem who ran away and tapped to strikes in PRIDE, Japan.
The card now has Junior Dos Santos vs. Alistair Overeem **Title fight** Frank Mir vs. Cain Velasquez Edson Barboza vs. Evan Dunham Roy Nelson vs. Antonio Silva Dan Hardy vs. Duane "Bang" Ludwig Diego Brandao vs. Darren Elkins C.B. Dollaway vs. Jason "Mayhem" Miller Shane Del Rosario vs. Gabriel Gonzaga Kyle Kingsbury vs. Glover Teixeira Paul Sass vs. Jacob Volkmann
still no sonnen/anderson silva :smt089 frank mir is always interesting to watch some fights he comes hard and gives a good fight all 3 rounds..other fights he looks like he's having nutritional problems, where he's very sluggish and not explosive.
That fight is happening in June. and as a Silva fan, I am nervous as fuck. Although I like them both.
if we're lucky these guys were supposed to bang sooner, but I think Silva said he had an injury ur not the only one who's nervous hate him or love him, Sonnen definitely comes to brawl. Watching Silva embarrass people all the time gets boring.
-yeah, he, his manager, and Dana said that he had a shoulder injury that stemmed from the Okami fight. -the fight will be in Brazil, if it happens http://mmajunkie.com/news/27301/chael-sonnen-vs-anderson-silva-ii-set-for-june-in-brazil.mma -Sonnen is very aggressive, sets a very high pace; I like his style
Here is the full press conference for UFC 146, lots of heavyweights on this card and oh, the Silva Sonnen matchup is happening at UFC 147 on June 23 inside of a soccer stadium- Estádio Olímpico João Havelange, shit's gonna be crazy bruh Silva by TKO/SUB or Sonnen by UD
Dude, the card with JDS and Overeem is pretty crazy. I think Mir/Velasquez is a Title Eliminator too. I want Mark Hunt to make a title run as well. It's going to be a close fight, but I have JDS slightly winning. He hand work and combinations will give Overeem trouble, but I think The Reem has one shot one kill power. He doesn't do many set ups for his power strikes he just goes for one strong strike. Not sure if that's the best thing against JDS though.
Pretty sure that's changed. The Main card is all heavyweights. Also I know Reem has more tools at his disposal, but JDS has excellent timing with his hands and Reem has a susceptible chin and in his past wilted under pressure. Then again getting KOed by Chuck Liddell and Shogun Rua isn't really "bad" because they were at the top of their game at the time.
off the top of my head, i think those guys are the top contenders indeed. Cain and JDS fought on Fox, and JDS embarrassed that mothafucka. The fight was all hype and was quickly ended early in the first or something. Dos Santos got that one-punch knockout shit goin on.
I had that fight 50/50. It's just that Velasquez stood too long in front of JDS and paid the price for it. It would have been different if he was able to get it to the ground.
-Yeah, I believe it is. -I'd definitely favor Overeem-he's more experienced, skilled- if it weren't for my uncertainty of his ability to take damage/durability, wouldn't be surprised if JDS hurt and finished him. Dos Santos has the speed advantage, so I believe he will land
LOL as a serious athlete, I can attest to desiring to be stronger or more powerful than the next man Knowing a grappler with insane strength and endurance, makes you push yourself When you can't get any stronger or whatever, it makes you turn to different things Unfortunately not everything that works is legal
yeah, not surprised he was taking, but I am surprised the dude got caught he's never tested positive-you'd think he'd be up on his shit for this title fight
