I know what they mean. But when I was a kid, many of the lighter-skinned kids started "wilding out" in black or Puerto Rican crews and ultimately got people off their back by being more extreme.
Sad since they are as Black like other Black kids. I think the biracials who are Asian/White or White/Latino are treated more nicer than White/Black.
Depending on the area, I think. Until recently I never saw many biracial children accepted by their white families unless the white family members were white intellectuals with a decidedly 1960s slant. I usually saw the non-white family members accepting the children, even if it was begrudgingly so. However, I have noticed in the last 10 years that it appears to be changing, albeit slowly. I also think it may have something to do with whether the white family member is male or female. White men are usually more empowered in social relations and can dictate more of what goes on in their lives from a position of telling, not asking.
It happened to my daughter................................... ...she told me ...we worked at a couple of "hittin' skillz" for 4 - 5 weeks. A couples of TEACHER - PARENTS meetings. A few bloody noses, and now it doesn't happen anymore.
Just as valid a parenting strategy as Dr. Spock books. I'm the same way. I don't punish my son for self-defense, only for aggression.
