Ahh, this be true. We hear shit about "the first African American to join the space program/join the Marines/sell 10,000,000 records" n' shit. I don't have a problem with acknowledging his heritage.

There are no such things as 'firsts" in his world. Didn't you know, lol. ;)

So let's see, he was insulted by race-baiting whinger Jason Whitlock who jokingly called Lin's roaming dick 2 inches long, Mayweather has noticed his race and compared it to another (his), and there was the ESPN fallout from their "Chink in the Armour" headline (which he forgave them for (see above).

There has also been an upsurge for Asians buying NBA tickets, AND bars all over the States are reporting that suddenly Asian patrons are flooding their bars for the sole purpose to watch his games.

His game has nothing to do with his height. Dude ain't hawkin it on people like Lebron so what the hell are you talking about. I just think the kid should be able to enjoy the fruits of his hard work without having to share that shit with everyone who looks like him. You think Larry Bird was sharing his acclaids with the white nation? Doubt it

I think that's because they were actively being kept out thats why it was a big deal but at this point we should be beyond that shit.

Larry's race was referred to all the time. Still is. Larry himself referred to it. Do your homework, son.

So he attributed his talent to being white? Others attributed his talent to being white? Keep up and stop acting dumb you knew exactly what I meant. What's with you lately. You just want to pick fights with me over nothing.

Can't you just let the Taiwanese people support him? Sheesh...you have a real problem when it comes to positive 'racial' support. It's called pride. They admire him, they're proud of his accomplishments, whatever they may be - so what?! How is it harming you, again?

Not until 2001, was the first ever Black Secretary of State appointed. (By Bush, Colin Powell). And not until 2005, was there a first female African-American SAC. (Condi Rice, again by Bush).

I despise the idea of racial pride its how we got to slavery and the nazi movement. Besides its the dumbest concept ever. I find pride in your accomplishments that I had nothing to do with? But whatever carry on and enjoying yourself. Peace unto you my friend.

See that's where your eyes get foggy....no where has anyone said - "it's cause he's white or Chinese..." Their race was brought up..but not in a bad way, in a positive way..which you consistently fail to see.

LOl @ me picking fight with you over nothing...[IMG]
Do I have to drag up up posts where its YOU picking fights with me? Cause you know I will. [IMG]

No it isn't hun, because Jews are White, too. And the history of slavery et al had very little to do with race and more to do with casting - the racial aspect came to the forefront with this country's history. There is nothing bad about being proud of someone's accomplishments based on their culture/heritage/country. Have you ever watched the Olympics? Do you proudly root for a specific sports team? Of which you know, you had NOTHING to do with their accomplishments...lol.

I route for them I allow them to inspire me but I don't take personal pride in their accomplishments and race is never a factor when I do. And we're really going to split hairs on race and ethnicity? Anything that promotes us and them instead of we isn't something I like to participate in. It creates needless divisions but like I said before. Goodnight to you my friend.

And rooting for Lin is EXACTLY what many Chinese are doing! Why are you insisting its a bad thing when they do it, but not when you do it? (And fyiI, so are many non-Chinese..rooting for him.) The Chinese who never cared for BB before but who now have become fans ADD and enhance the sport, not divide it. Save all that ish for serious racial divisiveness, will ya? Good grief.

Just remember, your first post in this thread was agreeing with Mayweather.."There is truth to what he's saying". So you then are a part of your own problem, but fail to see it. Toodles.

They root for the fact he's Chinese they don't see a man who is has worked his ass off to get to where he has against all odds. They see a Chinese person to latch themselves onto at least thats how its been sounding. When I said....
Never mind you just like to disagree with absolutely no real supporting logic so as I said carry on Kuno.

No man, they root for the fact that he's Chinese who is GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES. Similarly for the people of non-Chinese descent who are rooting for him who are enjoying his skills and his unusual story (that he was cut twice and about to be cut again).

See the bolded part? That's going to be on your e-epitaph. Right under "HYPOCRITE".

And whats with your 50 good nights but yet you keep posting to me?? Just post and let the post stand. smh.

It's very odd to me that a member of this site would have serious hangups about race/ethnicity consciousness and prefer that we all pretend we walk around lost in the land of the blind.:(

How can you find a certain type of women beautiful because of their physical attributes, their 'Whiteness', skin color/hair/eyes, etc, yet get all bent about an American born Taiwanese NBA player getting love from sports fans because he IS different AND talented???

Taking pride in your history is not what birthed Nazism and slavery.
Having a sense of innate superiority because of your race/ethnicity is the deep pit that spawns the majority of human suffering.

Taking pride in your own personal cultural history with all its successes and struggles allows you to appreciate the histories of other cultures and how their existence is unique and to be valued.

Striving to be color blind is misguided and illogical IMO. It's the random diversity of life and other people that makes living worthwhile.

However, I do believe we should all make an effort NOT TO BE color-prejudiced.

I'm far from Chinese, but if I was that type of dude I would absolutely buy a copy of Lin's jersey.

Noticing that Jeremy Lin doesn't look like your average NBA player isn't a bad thing, because it teaches us the lesson there's no such person an 'average' NBA player looks like.

If you can play, you can look like anyone.
That's why his story is special.
