There is truth to what he's saying. Only thing I don't agree with was his comment about The Williams sisters and Tiger both of who dominated their respected discipline for years. Lin has been good for barely a quarter of a season and stats wise he's far from dominating. I think it shows how much racism we as a culture are still trying to get over because the sports world is shocked to see any non black do what he's doing especially an Asian who are only noteable athletically when doing martial arts or perhaps gymnastics.
It just shows that this bs about performance based on race is just that bs. Work your ass off and the world is yours period the end.

And the Lin story continues. He hit the game winner tonight for the Knicks.

My concern is, even if Mayweather's statements were true, why attack Lin? The basis of differential treatment in society is largely a function of the majority group. Lin has zero influence on how he is viewed, apart from his personal example. Society - because of several centuries of racism - is going to view his accomplishments through the prism of race. That's just the nature of society when it has been deformed by these views.

Good Post and I have no problem with Linsanity because what he is doing is something that has NEVER been done from an Asian player therefore it's historic. It's not racist and I think it's silly when people get all upset over stuff like this.

How is 26 point and 8 assists per game FAR from dominating????

    :smt043

You do understand that all this hype is based off the last 6 games where he has averaged those numbers and they have won ALL 6 games. I don't know what you consider dominant. I will say that he's also set a record for turnovers but dude is still ballin his ass off!

Compared to other point guards like CP3 and Derek Rose dude ain't shit yet. I guess I gotta see if he can keep it up. I like what he's doing since I am a die hard Knicks fan but six good games don't mean shit if we don't make it to the playoffs.

Nobody is comparing him to the top point guards in the league. Its just cool to see a dude (who happens to be the first player EVER from Taiwan) come from out of nowhere and lead a team to a 6-0 record while its 2 superstars sit on the sidelines. Even if dude never plays this good again this will go down as one of the better feel good stories in NBA history.

True but not even Lebron was getting this kind of hype in Cleveland when dude took the Cavaliers by himself to the playoffs with 62 wins. Him being from Taiwan should be irrelevant. Shows how deep the racism is in this country.

Sorry but it is relevant because it's a FIRST. Racism? Really?

We all have our own opinions. I'll respect yours and not even argue with you but I think it's crazy to think it's even remotely racist.

Him being a sensation is awesome can't even deny that. His talent is amazing but the fact that him being Tawainese actually surprises us a nation says a lot. Kind of like if a black dude won a nobel prize for economics. Why should him being black mean anything. What cause black people aren't suppose to do that kind of thing? See my point.

Thats where we disagree. Nobody is saying we are surprised. We are just noting that this is a FIRST. Since we talk about noble prizes, we celebrate ***********000000]Ralph Bunche because he was the first[/COLOR]. In fact it's more evidence that race shouldnt be a factor. Even Spike Lee (of all people) thinks Floyd is off.

lippy is a "lin" fan...love watching him play and it is evident that he loves the game as he makes winning games look effortless...the best part of this story is that lin was sitting three deep on the bench and would have never even made it on the court had it not been for injuries...it certainly doesn't hurt my feelings at all that new york has a new golden child in "lin" they traded their entire team to get melo from the nuggets...i bet some teams are wishing they had a lin sitting on their bench

Dude just moved to my town. People are already camped out waiting for autographs. Dude went from living with his brother to Trump towers in a month. Nice upgrade.

the other part of the story to the guy besides being asian is that he is a harvard grad about to get cut along with the other teams curring him . so its a feel good story of an underdog all the way around

this is an awesome story. even for a bulls fan like me. It's almost reminiscent to Kurt Warner's run in 1999.

I haven't seen him play, only highlights, but I hope he can maintain this kind of performance throughout his career so that he can actually be considered a dangerous PG. If he isn't consistent, then these past 7 games won't mean shit.
