It may have been in bad taste to post those particular photos, yes. It's obvious that she's not at her best and given that she is not dead, they seem to highlight her untimely death even more so. With that being said...perhaps I should go find some pictures of her in her better years.

She had an amazing voice and was making a comeback with it. All of that has been cut short and unfortunately, many will remember her good years along with "that time when she was really messed up" at her death.

We'll learn more by next week about what exactly was the sudden cause of her death. Someone on here talked about a lot of negativity that Houston faced recently, perhaps that had something to do with it.

I don't think she was doing that, in fact the opposite. Their being Black is relevant in that they overcome so much to get where they are inspite of the barriers that are placed upon them due to being black. Their deaths are significant not only in the loss of a human being, but in the loss of a cultural icon that doesn't have an obvious and immediate "replacement" as crass as that sounds. When a non-Black (i.e. White) performer dies, its sad because it is a loss of a human being, but it is virtually guaranteed that another non-Black performer will take the deceased person's place in the social sphere. Blacks don't have that luxury as it currently stands. I hope I am not putting words in Kunoichi mouth, but that is the interpretation of what I think she was saying.

But this thread and our thoughts should be with Whitney and her family. R.I.P.

Personally I disagree but I do appreciate your argument..
For one its entertainment not experimental physics. Actually now more than ever there are opportunities for young black kids to make their way in entertainment the only problem is the market is ridiculously over saturated due to technology
I just find it offensive that our accomplishments are never our own or its shared based on what some other entity decides.
And by saying we lose too many black entertainers sounds disingenuous coming from a white person mainly because that loss isn't felt the same way if we're gonna go down that road of your argument.
Like I said the distinction is never made for anyone else and that's why the comment stuck. Quite frankly I'm tired of being seen as other.

    I hope it wasn't drugs!

I hope it wasn't drugs that killed her. I get so frustrated when someone so rich chooses to abuse drugs with all that money they have earned. Many, many people cannot get their head above water with this economy and these famous people waste their lives and money on drugs...

What a waste of a great talent..One of the best voices in the world...

"Houston was set to appear in this year's "Sparkle," a remake of the 1976 hit, which was loosely based on the story of The Supremes. It was her first movie role since 1996's "The Preacher's Wife."

I looked it up and it looks like it was made already...winder if it will be released, or at least delayed.

It won't be a surprise. That, plus, I'm sure she was stressing like no other with her attempted comebacks, while at the same time people saying her voice had gotten so terrible, she couldn't complete her songs n' shit. Her heart was probably destroyed(physically, I mean).

I've crossed paths with Salim and his wife Mara in Turkey...

I hope the film is in the bag, so to speak...

One last chance to see Whitney....

How interesting on your meet (and where).

I believe it's in post production, due for an August release? So it may still go ahead as scheduled.

Clive Davis was (is) throwing a Pre- Grammy party at the hotel where she died. She was set to perform/open the party. He's still going ahead with it, but won't attend now. I'm sure it will turn into a tribute party for her, instead.

Met them (and Clive Davis) at a club in Istanbul, Turkey... I had a band that played there but was off the night they showed up. The owner of the club tried to get us on stage short notice, but things didn't work out...

Anyway, I showed up, we all sat, drank and talked shit until I had to leave...
