The average NFL player is 3 years from What I remember and they go down in the money bracket after that. very tough job!

 

True but that dude's worst year had him eaarning 360k and 1.5 mil for his best year which is this year. As long as he doesn't over spend he looks like he'll be earning a great lifestyle.

 

I think on paper it sounds like these guys make a lot. They have agents and managers that take their cut and in the end they aren't "living the life". Their careers can be short lived too.

I used to live in a neighborhood and one of the Broncos lived in the same neighborhood, in the absolute cheapest house there. The only indication of who he was was a Hummer which he rarely drove and he used to sign things for the neighborhood kidlets. He was pretty humble around home. He got in some stand off with the coach here and asked to be traded and well that didn't work out for him so well and he is "retired". Here are his salary stats. You would think .....oh he was living the life..... but no not really.

I don't get how you get that kind of money and can't live decently. I know the signing bonus is pretty much a portion of your contract money up front which you have to pay taxes on plus the money you pay agents/lawyers but if the stats are correct on that website dude should have had 2 million take home at the very least and in Colorado that should go pretty far even in Denver. I was recently in Ft. Collins where my ex is from and the rent out there is insanely cheap, at least by my standards. Her brother got a 3 bedroom for 800 bucks a month and thats with everything included except internet.

 

No....he lived in a 3 bed. house that was in the 275,000-300,000 price range. Nothing fancy. His mom lived with him too.

I think that most people think sports people are lighting cigars with $100 bills and driving around in six different cars each day of the week. It's really not that way at all. Many live ordinary lives.

Real talk. Dude has a degree from Cornell. That shit might be worth more than his nfl contract in the long run.

if it doesn't work out, you still have a ton of clout and notoriety as a NFL player to go along with your degree. Thinking merit alone will always land you a job is a fools ambition. Celebrity status and personality can be just as important.
