Your honest average working man dedicated to providing for his family is tougher than any thug. I totally agree about the illusion thing.

I agree on both counts. Thug is a turn off for me. But uber flashy, overtly conspicuous consumption is too (redundant sentence I know, but I enjoy all of those words).

Not into thug but someone too business minded is not really my thing either.
I like an average guy with a touch of nerd or touch of gentleman or a bit of both. But most importantly not too extreme into either direction.
