Okay because some folks on here are a little slow and naive, I'm gonnna break it down for them...

First and foremost, it doesnt matter how ugly you are if you are a female...you'll get laid by last call. Seriously, guys have waaaaaaaay lower standards than females.

Secondly, men have to not only worry about how they look but how much they make. Do females have to worry about how much they make???? Of course not. How many women look at a man's salary as a potential deal breaker? A lot of them. Now, how many men look at a women's salary as a deal breaker? Almost none.
Men not only have to be looked at as providers but physically fit as well. Men have it a little rougher.

So what's the point of this thread?
That models are held to ridiculous standards or that young girls are usually dumb enough to try and follow that example?
Or that both men and women are attracted to fit tone bodies and that both genders are incredibly shallow in the beginning?
    I'm a tad confused

There's more pressure on MEN to be good providers/financially successful than women.

However women still have more value placed on their appearance than men.

Go to any club on a Saturday night and see who's allowed to break the line in front.

There's a former part-time Swedish model/overglorified babysitter who's worth $100 mil now because she was considered 'pretty' by a pro athlete.

Men don't get breaks getting into clubs because they look good.
Broke beautiful men rarely ever marry rich women.

An average looking man versus a good looking guy, assuming everything else is roughly equal, can have the same career paths, same earning power, same attractiveness in their choice of spouses.

Now go talk to ANY woman whether a beautiful woman has an advantage in the professional world, socially, for that matter in any field of endeavor in society??

Men have some pressure to be at their best physically and to look good, but they aren't penalized to the same degree women are.

I know so many youngish dudes who are 30-40# overweight and are mid level management or supervisors.

It's rare to see that for women in the white collar world.

It's not that men don't have the same pressures, but it's even greater for women.
And I would say that for men they have even more pressure to be successful compared to the next guy because guess what??

Most women when choosing a mate will go for the average looking guy who earns $200 grand a year over the male model who brings home $50,000 per.

Men know this. So do women.

Just as women know that an average looking woman who's a partner at a law firm will have a harder time finding marriage prospects than the covergirl who's a ticket agent for American Airlines.

For a man to even argue this sound a little.....jealous.:smt017:lol:

Both sexes are tasked with looking their best. Yes women may be more forgiving of looks when a man has money but quit trying to make it seem like high 6 figure jobs grow on trees. For most women being attractive is only a treadmill and a good nutrition plan away. Most women who are unattractive are that way usually because they don't take care of themselves. Yes men can compensate for looks with achievement and looks but they still have to be moderately attractive. Personally I think it sucks that a nice pair of boobs and a tight ass are on the same level of years of hard work and dedication AND making sure you look good.

Also keep in mind most of those hot girl pudgy guy couples usually happen long after they've been together for awhile especially if the woman is a stay at home wife and hubby works. The woman has way more time through out the day to look good.

Men have a higher ratio of lean muscle mass and a higher metabolism than women. Men have less sex-specific fat stores than women. It's easier for a man to get in and stay in shape than women, yet more women work harder at it mainly by watching what they eat, than most men.

    Think what you want.

Women are judged more on looks than men, and women have more pressure placed on them to look their best than their male counterparts.

I can't tell you how many times I've seen this couple out on the town; girl in a fashionable dress and clean heels, makeup and a few nice pieces of jewelry, and her man is wearing sneakers, baggy jeans and a tee shirt.

How many men wear out sneakers exclusively outside of work and don't wear any pants other than denim or sweats??

Iggy was arguing that men have just as much superficial pressure if not more to look as good as women do.
I just don't see it among the married couples or the young professionals that I know.

Go on youtube and notice how many women are posting weight loss videos soliciting advice, chicks mind you who aren't even FAT.

Then clock how many such vids you see posted by men.:smt025

To quote a friend of mine, ' I may be heavy, but I think I wear it well,' sums up how a lot of dudes think about themselves.

There are tons of fitness minded videos geared towards men as well. Just look up all the p90x workout vids alone.

Women who dress to the 9 are usually dressing for other women or themselves. Enough time in a relationship and you realize the other person actually loves you so effort is required as much as when you're dating and trying to impress them.

Ok so the bottom line is women have to compete aesthetically and men financially. Ok so what's your point exactly?

    Yes, it is....

"Lynn in Brownville, Maine started the Weight Loss Challenge at the same time as her husband. She says she eats healthier than he does and exercises more regularly, and yet he's lost 23 pounds, while she's dropped 16.
Though she's happy for her husband, she's frustrated! She asks Dr. Phil, "Can you please enlighten me as to why men tend to lose weight faster than women?"
Dr. Phil responded..."More often than not, men lose weight faster because they have more muscle mass."

Great article, Kuno, and it echos many I have read like it over the years. Menopause wreaks havoc on a woman's ability to lose weight too. Hormonal imbalance causes us to gain weight or have difficulty taking it off.
