The Stripper is Megalyn Echikunwoke she has actually been in alot of primetime shows.

seems like from the previews she will be on the show throughout the season.

Plus the sexual tension between Don and Kristin characters will certainly keep you watching and the humor definitely keeps to entertained. Plus like it is nice to see a black guy in this type of role. Smart, successful, confident, & cocky and being at the top of his game in the corporate world. While also being a not being the "greatest" dad but loving and accepting his son when his mom couldnt care less.

I enjoyed the first episode, though for as much you might like to give the Big Apple credit, it's not a depiction of N.Y. business, as much as a satirical slant of big business and management consultant. In fact, the consultant firm in the show is based in CA. I think that we're going to see the consulting team traveling all over the world during the season, which is typical in management consulting.

Loved the show but,I wished homeboy's son would be a shy nerd instead of a flamboyent guy. However,I give this show good marks.

I was thinking the exact same thing about the son; however Glynn Turman is an excellent fit as Don Cheadle's father. I watched the first episode today and I'm hooked on this show. One of the first times I can say that something was as good as advertised.

"House of Lies" gets my seal of approval and I'd recommend it to anyone.:smt023

Co-sign, I too was disappointed in the portrayal of the son, especially since I believe Don Cheadle is credited with being a producer on this series. He has always been one of my favorite actors given that he has mostly portrayed strong, intelligent, roles that showed Black men in a positive light.

What's wrong with the son. I have a friend who reminds of to the t and home boy ain't no punk either. He lives in coop city, Bronx with his boyfriend and no fear.
The last two years I've seen gay men in a totally different light. Don't believe the stereotype some will mess you up good.

I hear what you are saying here, when it comes to sexuality my philosophy is live and let live. My concerns lies with Hollywood's propensity to effectively neuter Black men (especially intelligent, articulate, successful Black men) with homosexuality whenever they are in close proximity to White women, whether it be sitcoms (Spin City), movies (Sweet Home Alabama), and countless other examples. As others have said, my preference would be for the kid to have been a nerd or the like rather than exploring gender roles/traits as we see so few of what I would call positive, strong, intelligent roles for Black men and boys.

In addition I will be hugely pleasantly surprised if Don's character and Kristin Bell's (who is a fairly big name actress now) character share anything more intimate than flirting, given Hollywood's aversion to IR with BM and star WW.

Its showtime they'll hook uo and I do see your point but I've yet to see this dynamic with a womanizer father and a gay son. I guess I'm biased since I know how tough it was for my friend to come out and I guess I like the idea of them normalizing it a bit.

    Agree.

I will have to wait and see how the characters develop. I am curious as to why they threw this factor in. I mean they are dealing with a lot of stereotypes already. It seems like they were making a stew and thought the more ingredients the better and just kept throwing things in the pot. If it works fine but I feel like there is already a lot going on in the show without it and it wasn't necessary. :smt102

You sound like you have been a good friend to him, not surprising given your character/intelligence. Last year a business partner confided in me that he was Bi, I can admit that at first it threw me off a little bit, mostly because I never would have believed it about him if he did not tell me himself, but I am glad to say that our friendship/business partnership has not changed.

To be honest before being friends with that kid I was so uncomfortable aroumd gay people. I grew up Jamaican and that shit is the sin of all sins. They use to killpeople for that shit but I'm happy I got over it.
I like how tolerant IR has made most of us lol.

Loki you are telling the truth. There is just too much images of Black men who are close with WW and make them gay. That taboo is still there and I just find it weird to have a son to be so flamboyent than to have say a shy "Steve Urkel" type.

Loving this new show. Watching it right now and the way they wrote this character is amazing.

Saw that show too and it was amazing. Sometimes Cheedle's character swirls like it was no tomorrow. Sometimes I would love to see him swirl at almost every episode.

I told people back in 1996 that Don Cheadle was gonna be a beast after seeing him in "Devil in a Blue Dress". His supporting character in that flick literally stole the show from the Denzel Washington's lead role.
