Hi, I'm Mindy, single mom of 2 awesome (most of the time!) kids. I live near Dayton Ohio. I'm a veterinary technician, so of course I love animals and have too many of them. Ok, just 2 dogs and 2 cats, I'm not a hoarder or anything. I've been hanging out for a while and, now that I'm able to post, I look forward to getting to know some of you. I can be a little "out there" at times, and I don't tend to take things too seriously. Life's supposed to be fun, right?
Don't expect anything too outlandish just yet, I'm still the new girl. But once I get settled in a little, and get to know some people, trust that the freak flag will fly! Lol Thanks for the hospitality!
LOL, after seeing the series Hoarders on A&E, I am stunned at how some people can live like that and not find it problematic. I would go nuts. Welcome on board M&M and hope you enjoy it here.
I watched that show once and had to take a shower after. It's disgusting. It's mental illness for these hoarders. The one I watched they had saved newspapers and had them stacked up in the whole house. In between there was dirt and food and a few dead cats. No lie. I was like ummm.
Yeah, It's a form of OCD that causes people to keep all kinds of worthless crap. One young guy I saw on there was afraid to vacuum up his dog's hair cause he thought it would make the dog die. Um.... Yeah dude, there's pills for that, just sayin... A client at my work was on that show also! Her house was condemned because of the conditions, so she lived out in front of the house in her truck with her cat. I guess its sad in a way, but how can you help someone that doesn't want help? Those people have a RELATIONSHIP with their garbage. They straight IN LOVE with that shit! I'm a bit off, but that's just nucking futs!
Yep its definitely out there. Seems like many of them form relationships with the objects they hoard and feel like getting rid of it is akin to severing themselves of a meaningful relationship they may have once had linked to those items. Like one man used to work with his father and the father died from a heart attack one day when they were together in a vehicle and he keeps all the items that his father used to work with alongside him, the car, ladders, paint brushes, old refrigerators, etc. Its pretty rough to see how it controls those folks.
