Loving this thread! Talk about a walk down memory lane. Love the Brothers Johnson, Midnight Star, Gap Band, George Benson, Grover Washington Jr., Cameo, Earth Wind & Fire, Barkays. Did anyone mention the Dazz Band or Lakeside? All the music I love to dance to...who can sit still? LOL

I don't know if I would call "I wanna be your lover" funk. Sounds like period correct R&B to me, a bit Stevie Wonder sounding, but again this is MY OPINION.

You could argue Shalamar who happened to be managed by my 6th grade teacher and met Howard Hewit when I was 12 is funk, but I doubt anybody else would call it that.

Fans opinions are one thing, but the people that have to play the stuff, program music for radio, nightclubs and judge weather shit is even fit for playing at all I think are a better judge of What's what.

Yes. Thank you, Jordan. Her name was Penny. Prime of her life, suddenly got sick with Pyometra, less than a week. She died in my arms (twice), 20 minutes before she could make it into life-saving surgery as I waited for the Vet to arrive. I can't shake the trauma of it all. I'm a shell right now.
