Verizon fucked up. They should've called it a discount for using their preferred payment methods. When Geico does it people are happy because they're saving money. Same thing with online payment through Cricket. They charge 3 bucks if you go to the store and pay cash. If the customer thinks in terms of "sweet, just saved 3 dollars" vs "wtf a new charge on top of everything else?!" the response is vastly different even though it's the same damn thing.

If you get paperless bills, switch to paper. It'll cost them millions to print and mail invoices.

Which they will, in turn, charge us for. This "fee for this, fee for that" thing is so getting old.

I think the fee applies only to credit card payments by phone or online. I think they are having someone else process them and passing the fee on. That is what I heard. If so then those who pay a bill with credit should pay for that convenience not have it passed on to the rest of us. I in no way defend Verizon. Their customer service has been stinking as of late. :smt068

What would you all suggest for an American mobile provider? I have to get a US number soon and was originally thinking Verizon....

Verizon has the best coverage so depending on if you travel. None of them are perfect.

I will gladly pay the small charge in exchange for a nearly flawless cell phone service.

They don't charge for it and if enough people do it, it will send a message. People should also clog their customer service with inane questions and requests. Wage a war of attrition.

Charging someone to pay their bill is poopy. That said, Verizon does have the best coverage in my area, and my family and (most) friends have Verizon, so realistically I'm not switching carriers.

I pay my Verizon bill in the store - which is, for me, right across the street - and there's no charge for that. And, I save a stamp.
