    1) why would anyone go thru hazing? Its stupid. to be part of a group? really ? man up people.

    2) to haze someone is really stupid. you need your ass kicked then jailed.

    3) people who are trying to support the university prez are a bunch of idiots. let that been one of your family members killed and see if you would support the prez

    4) why join a frat? they serve nop real purpose. why pay money to join a frat and get hazed. fuck that. I went to the army and got paid to get hazed because they hazed me because it was called training. the training was to keep me alive. hazing by frats serve no purpose. Its another form of S and M

    WTF?

This wasn't even a frat hazing - it was the marching band! Band used to be such a nerd thing. Times have changed! (there was this one time, at band camp...)

it was a fraternity within the marching band at a HBCU

im disgusted by their actions...beating another person over something like 'band' is silly enough, but a group of young men beating a girl just takes it to another level

i hope they get fucked up in jail

I'm surprised by student reaction in this and the Penn State mess... A young man is basically murdered at the hands of some sadistic students and when administrators are called out on the carpet for it, students protest... :smt102

    I'm definitely missing something....:smt120

How does it take it to another level?

    let me get this straight
they kill a guy and that doesn't take it to another level but.... they beat a girl and that does?

I'm just saying bro. maybe your views aren't in check or you simply forgot about them killing a guy.

according to goodlove, you already have since ur in the military

i guess hazing and basic training are one in the same to him

    :p

to be honest, basic training in the old days was thought of as tougher and less forgiving as it is now, especially with the age of the internet and mass media

i remember guys saying they were physically assaulted by their DIs during the 80s when they went. of course no one told, because they thought it was all in the process of making marines and the sort. they also figured if u snitched on your DI, you'd get it worse.

I wasn't even mad at this. You reply was like a joke from the simpsons or something.

    You can beat a man.
    You can kill him.
but once you have beaten a woman you have gone to the next level.

    lol

Like bart's comment about krusty not showing up to kamp krusty

That does it! I've been scorched by Krusty before. I got a rapid heartbeat from his Krusty brand vitamins. My Krusty calculator didn't have a seven or an eight, and Krusty's autobiography was self-serving with many glaring omissions, but this time, he's gone too far!

Nah, basic wasn't hazing. Basic was for a reason, and I got a paycheck and job security out that shit.

College hazing is a bunch of retards doing lethal fuck around games to prove some kind of bullshit loyalty. I didn't need to assault, drown, starve or humiliate my best friends to prove that I really their friends.

It's retarded, really. Going through a bunch of shit for some people you just met and once you pass that test, you're all of a sudden friends or "brothers". Friendship don't develop like that for me.

Yeah I know right lol. I got invited to join Alpha Phi Alpha in college. Sometimes I wish I had gone through it but happier I didn't. When my friends in their 30s talk about their "bros" they look fucking stupid.

i was going to write that in response but hey...goodlove is goodlove...

we all know he's special

eh i played sports for schools, so i guess im biased towards things that are basically useless for your adult career but otherwise fun.

as I mentioned before tho, some fraternities are co-ed and geared towards fostering networks within specific majors. joining something like that would be the logical move, if they really had a solid reputation for preparing its members for entry into different companies. I was offered one of my first jobs from a Penn State alum, and I seen firsthand how real such collegiate bonds can be. The guy didn't know me at all and I did not know him. The only thing we had in common was our choice of school and that got me a gig with no questions asked.

Do you really feel that playing sports contributed nothing? I didn't play sports in school (I was the band geek), but I would think that there were lessons learned from being part of a team (working together toward a common goal, discipline, taking direction from coaches, etc.) that would contribute to your life in general after school. Yes? No?

As for goodlove, he's a nice guy. Give him a break.

honestly tho if you've been following my posts like my twitter, you'd know that I stand up for sports and the values you learn playing them.

hazing in the military (basic training) was for a purpose...to keep your ass and you teams ass alive and complete the mission. hazing doesnt do shit for you in the frats....well frat is borderline gay anyway

exactly . that is what Im saying. its like those people are screaming....I need a friend and the best way to get friends is to join a frat . hazing in frats is no different than getting jumped in order to be part of a gang on the street corner....dumb shit. being part of a frat will not get you a job. most HR tv pundits will tell you not to put it on your resume because it means nothing and it could get you eliminated.

just like someone stated if you join a club that has something to do with your major then it would be beneficial for you.
