Another great individual has bite the dust. Christopher Eric Hitchens, journalist, author, and crusader for secularism and atheism, passed away on December 15, 2011. With his brash and often brutally honest views on religion, he became one of the major players in the modern grips with religion vs. atheism debates. The link above gives out more details of his life and career. Regardless of how you felt about him, there's no denying that he was a passionate man.

Truly, he will be missed by the atheist community and many individuals who respected him. Tis a shame that he passed so soon. Twice as long...half as bright. We'll miss you buddy...even if you are a smoking, hazardous son of a bitch.

How did I know you'd be the one to post this lol.
Even though I didn't agree with him religiously I loved his political views. Another great mind lost too early.

That's unfortunate. Last interview I saw of him was earlier this year. I honestly thought he had at least a few left. He'll be missed.

Hahaha, then I guess you know me quite well, eh? Honestly, I wasn't going to post anything, but in the end, I decided to do it in the end. His politics are pretty much..."heavy". He supported Bush and the War in Iraq, more so because he's very passionate about extremism in Islam. Regardless, I still have a lot of admiration for him.

There are still others in the atheist community. Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett, and even the lesser known people of atheism will continue to lead on. I've been wondering if it's possible of becoming an atheist theologian. That would be an interesting perspective.

A provocative intellect and thinker. I agreed with him on many things and disagreed with him as well. But the depth of thought he brought to the debate will be missed.

Iggy,he does not believe heaven existed. Hitch is entertaining like David Allan and does not give a shyt on whom he offends either left or right. He would be missed.

How is he a lightweight when he adequately expressed his thoughts on the matter? By the way, which holds a lot of truth and weight. He's speaking purely from a sociopolitical perspective on the notion of race and how we, as a collective, embroil ourselves in that mentality.

Secondly, he's been against racism since his Trotskyist days, who accomplished a whole lot in his lifetime. Your comment only tells me you never bothered reading into any of his writings or essays.

It was a joke. Hitchens is an Atheist that doesn't believe in God or Heaven.
