I was happy too, but the win was a little too late to mean much. But hey - even if they lose, I get to watch some sexy guys in tight pants for an afternoon. I can think of worse ways to spend a day! :smt050

Actually, I have a very good understanding on how the real world works. It can be downright cruel and unfair at times.

Sorry that you and some others here don't understand that.

Or save the house and fine them afterwards. Wtf is wrong with people?

Why would I pay if I knew I could pay the fine? The point is that the firefighters need the money to take care of their families and the do their jobs. If you implement this system, people will only pay when they have to not when they should pay.

The solution should have been to have it in their property taxes like most cities do.

Apparently this happened to another homeowner last October with the same reaults. The homeowner tried to battle the blaze with garden hoses and then called the fire dept, who refused to help.

This is a volunteer fire company, btw. The fee does not pay the salaries of the firefighters. Like other volunteer companies, they could have auctions, suppers and other fundraisers to raise money for operating costs. At the very least, fight the darn fire like you signed up and were trained to do and bill the homeowner later.

Or tax everyone and stop looking for ways to deny service. That shit is plain stupid.

Did you notice how your boy is only capable of seeing the world in one of two categories? Liberal or conservative.

    Liberals eat oatmeal.
    Conservatives eat cream of wheat.

If they didn't pay the 75 dollars before, what makes you think they'll pay it afterwards?

The homeowner got burned(pun intended) for being a cheap ass motherfucker.

Look if you don't pay taxes they don't withhold like ambulance service or police protection or fire service they garnish your wage, they take property, but they don't let your house burn so why in this situation should they?
I don't get this fervor to punish people for shit like this. You want to show balls then rally together and focus on the fucks who robbed this country and quit going after easy targets patting yourselves on the back like your protectors of the public good. God forbid some cheapskate gets away with paying 75 bucks. Let his/her home burn to teach a lesson. I don't know what their circumstance is but the minute we let a compassionate profession like firefighting become a coercive punishment to keep the poor in their place(those are the only ones who really suffer in these kinds of circumstances) then we have become a country without the integrity to call itself a United States
