Unfortunately, your rationale of thinking is actually what is keeping racism and prejudice alive. It justifies why Condoleeza Rice was right to say that America would never be a "race-blind" country. This is something we'll have to live with because people simply can't like someone without mentioning about someone else's perceived shortcomings.

 

Oh wow, I remember earlier this year, having a blazing row with a woman (a psychologist!) who called herself an 'evolutionary feminist' - which is an oxymoron if ever there was one - and your statement reminded me of her 'theories.' She said that women could never be friends and support one another because we're all animals, and the most important thing is for all women to compete against one another for men, as the most important thing for women is to reproduce! This was offensive on many levels, but I think the most offensive part, is that it implies we're all slaves to our genes, and that we don't have any free will, and can't rise above gender constraints historically placed upon us by society. And the other part of her 'theory' is that it simply isn't true! It actually makes sense - evolution-wise - for women to be friends and support one another, for the simple fact that, like the old African saying goes, "It takes a village to raise a child." Even in the animal kingdom, you see female cats take on 'child-rearing' roles, like feeding other female cat's kittens on their milk - like a 'wet nurse.' Actually, scientists are now finally admitting that the most important thing, in evolution, is co-operation between individuals, not competition. Co-operation (nuturing, supporting each other) actually ensures the survival of the species. It is because our ancestors learned co-operation skills that we are here today.

When the 'evolutionary biolgical theory' is applied to the concept of race, it is also extremely offensive and dangerous. The problem with Darwinism, is that it has been used erroneously outside of science and into politics, to fuel terrible crimes against humanity, including slavery and Nazism, under the whole 'survival of the fittest' concept, implying that Western Europeans (particularly under Colonialism) were superior to everyone else.

Anyway, I really feel you should balance your Science degree with some subjects in History and Post-Colonialism, as it will really open your eyes to what happens when scientific theories are misappropriated into Politics and the wider society.

Evie girls don't need to "compete" because to get men as a girl all you have to be is hot-looking, so ya a hot girl may "cooperate" with a fat girl but the fat girl still won't get more than a one-night stand at most from a hot guy, and certainly no ltr or commitment so I guess "cooperation" doesn't really work out very well, but actually neither would competition...just because these concepts were not well-explained to you doesn't mean they're not true or that you understand them.

I disagree. There may be no competition in the short term but very much so for long term relationships. Everyone is trying to snag the best long term partner not short term one. So being hot isn't enough and being fat doesn't necessarily equal lonliness.

 

the only other factor men look for in an ltr is whether or not ure a slut, if you're hot young and not a slut ure guaranteed ltr with a top guy, if ure ugly or fat there's no way you can really compete and cooperation won't help u either, life is harsh
