To be hypocrites is the bane of humanity. It seems these rancid bigots seem to think they can turn back the hands of time by hermetically sealing themselves off from the realities of 2011. Notice how the qualities, values, character and morals of this man was not of interest. The only characteristics of him that matter for them is being black. He is respectful so what, he is a God fearing Christian so what, but he is black with a white woman and it hurts our little egos so lets ban them from our church, i.e. take our ball and go home like little brats.
You can always count on an ignorant bigot's rant mentioning the jews, never fails. Meanwhile http://www.wkyt.com/wymtnews/headli...w_vote_on_interracial_marriage_134938158.html Pike County church could have new vote on interracial marriage The pastor of the Pike County church that voted to not condone interracial marriage expects a new vote this Sunday. The National Association of Free Will Baptists is encouraging the church to overturn the ban.
This is the same state that did not recognize the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments until 1976....Neddless to say this shit and the encounters with racism I read about and experience don't shock me.
the jacked up thing to me is that these groups and their supporters, including the moral-relativists, will defend stuff like this, supporting racist actions/policy, but blanching at the notion of being called racist. It's almost like somebody shoplifting regularly, but they get insulted at being called a thief..
The ban has been overturned. I logged on just to post the news. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/04/kentucky-church-interracial-couples_n_1128712.html
Why am I not surprised? Idiocy, less to do with religion and more to do with ignorance, at its finest.
Because it illustrates to the world exactly how far we have to go as a nation. That's why it's important to reveal and show cases such as this matter, already too many times people attempt to believe we are in this post-racial utopia because we have a biracial president in the white house. Thus, it's even more important to reveal such events so that way we can stop kidding ourselves, work together as a american community and culture, and actually continuing working towards the "post racial utopia" we seem to want.
Having already pulled the "Welcoming Mat", how many interracial couples would be willing to go to a place that they aren't or weren't really welcome? It's one thing when you bring the "fight" to me and something different when I go looking for a fight. It's not like that church had a steady stream of interracial couples to begin with... The Past Pastor's daughter's friend visits once and it makes news... Me still thinks this was an advertising ploy to increase attendance in a time when churches across the nation are experiencing a membership decline.
That's true, I don't think many would go there at all. However, I honestly have no idea what their motivation was to attend the church.
See this is the thing, people need to have the background to their life story. She didn't wake up and decided to go to that small town church for no reason. She grew up in the church all her life. Her parents are both members. Her fiancee is also a God fearing Christian who seems to be into attending church as well. I figure that is one of the reasons he sang at the church. He must be pretty into religion. They met at a local college in Kentucky. Planning to get married in summer 2012. Maybe she was naive about the ignorance of others, nonetheless instead of being cowardly she stood up and spoke up for a man she loved and to me that is worth its weight in gold. Give me that kind of a woman than one who would rather sneak around and lack the confidence and character to say this is the man I love and he is a good man and I'll stand by him.
and she probably really thought they werent racist. people get fooled by that "Iam a christian" tag thinking they will do the right thing
